The fire. The fire. Lessien thought wildly but as she opened her eyes she saw what she had done.

Her stomach dropped because she knew she had broken the rules of humanity and committed a genocide. It did not matter who they were or what they had done, she had killed thousands, perhaps a million.

She knew the nightmares would haunt her forever.

But none of it mattered now.

None of it.

All that mattered was him.

She thought of nothing but what lay ahead as she ran to him and he to her. The happy ending was so close.

And then.

Pain. Seething pain. And the only thing that seemed within reach was death.
