I reread the text, trying to understand what could possibly be going on until I heard Tasneem's footsteps coming down the hall. I placed the phone back exactly how it was so that she wouldn't notice that I read her message.

"I think you got a text." I told her as she sat down next to me on the bed.

"Thanks." she said. She read it and smiled and began to type back.

"Why are you smiling?" I asked as if I didn't already know.

"I read something funny." she said.

Had Tasneem and Fuad been talking this whole time or was she doing this just to get back at me for the Hakeem situation? I checked my phone again.

"I never said you had to love me..I thought you were cool on us being just friends." read a message from Hakeem.

"I'm not." I responded.

"I don't understand you but whatever. Talk to me when you decide to act right."

"So, what do you want to talk about?" asked Tasneem.

"Fuad." I said.

"Okay, what about him?"

"I don't think you ever got the chance to meet him."

"Nope, just saw him around at school and on snapchat." she shrugged.

"So you've never talked to him?"

"Nope."

How could she sit here and lie so confidently to my face?

"Why are you asking me these questions weirdo?" she laughed nervously.

"I was just wondering."

This was probably why she forgave me so easily, her and Fuad must have been messing around on the low. Kind of like how I forgave Fuad so easily when I knew that I had done something wrong also.

"Tasneem, can I ask you something?"

"Of course."

"Are you going to tell Fuad about my kiss with Hakeem?"

"No..why would I do that?"

"I don't know, I was just wondering."

"You're wondering a lot today, and you're acting really weird. What's going on with you?"

"Nothing." I lied.

"Is this about the Hakeem thing? If it is, I'm not mad at you. I think the crush was more in my head than anything anyway."

"But I betrayed you, isn't it kind of weird that you forgave me so easily?"

"Warsan you're like my sister, I would forgive you for anything."

"Of course but you forgave me a little too fast. If it were me in that situation I would have been mad for a lot longer. You weren't even mad at me when I hid my relationship with Fuad from you for almost two years."

"So what are you saying?" she asked.

"I'm saying either you knew about our relationship way before I told you, or you're just really weak. People are only that forgiving when they have something to hide themselves."

Tasneem's eyes widened. "Why are you being so mean to me? I'm doing you a favor by forgiving you!"

"Get over yourself." I laughed.

"I knew you were having family problems so I didn't want to stress you out even more by being mad at you. I'm trying to be a good friend to you and all you ever are is an asshole to me."
