After Fuad left that day I decided to get up and go see a doctor. I was diagnosed with clinical depression and was put on medication. I went back to school and began to apply to colleges. I got into The Ohio State University and got into their Biomedical Engineering program.

I had grown closer with my family also. My step-siblings and I had become inseparable, you would have thought that we were blood siblings. Ammar and Abdirahman had stepped up as brothers also. They left their old lifestyle behind and have started taking classes at a local college. We talked everyday and hung out often. Faisal would have been proud if he saw them today.

My biological father was eventually caught and arrested. He was put on a long trial and was found guilty of second degree murder. He was then deported back to Somalia. I have not heard from him since, nor do I want to.

Tasneem and I had rekindled are close friendship and kept it throughout college. It was almost as if we had never fallen off. She ended up finishing nursing school and becoming a Registered Nurse.

Hakeem didn't go to college. He graduated high school and immediately began working in security. Me and him are on good terms but I wouldn't that say we're friends. I run into him and Hawo sometimes when I visit my old apartment, it's always nice to see them.

Naima and Ahmed broke up shortly after graduation. Although they remained good friends. They both ended up going to Ohio State where Ahmed went on to become and engineer and Naima went on to become a lawyer. Naima, Tasneem, and I have all became close friends. They're probably the only two friends that I've kept since high school.

Bayden was devastated after Faisal's death. She finished high school and went MIA for a while. I heard that she works in retail now but I'm not sure how true that is. The fact of the matter is that we aren't friends anymore and I haven't heard from her in years.

You're probably wondering if Fuad ever came back for me. He visited me on every break possible and always checked in on me while he was away to make sure I was still keeping up with my deen. When he finally graduated college and came back to Columbus, his first act of duty was to go straight to my father. My dad was hesitant at first. He never quite forgot Fuad's name after Hanan told him that she heard I had a boyfriend named Fuad few years ago. He didn't know how he felt about me marrying him. My mother finally convinced him and told him how Fuad came to our apartment daily to read me Quran after Faisal died. After much convincing, my father finally agreed. Fuad's family was overjoyed at the news and welcomed me into their family with open arms. Fuad and I got married on my birthday in the summer before my senior year of college. I was twenty one and he was twenty two. Once I graduated I was happy to announce to our families that I was pregnant. I later found out that I wasn't only pregnant with one baby, but with two! I gave birth to a beautiful set of twins, a boy and a girl. I had no choice but to name them after the two best friends that I have ever had; Tasneem and Faisal.

The End.
