A little bit of backstory: Minseok is from a family of well known, bloodthirsty, thug vampires, but broke away from them in order to free himself from all their wrongdoings and pressure they put on him to become just like them. Along the way, he met the love of his life. Knowing his family would oppose his choice of mate, he vowed to protect her until the very end. In order to do this, he lives just a couple of houses down to keep a close eye on her. She doesn't know any of this.

Today was the last day of school due to bad weather. It was supposed to snow all week, and today was also the first sight of snow we were going to be seeing, so all the students were told that we would be getting time off. I was in the final period of the day with my boyfriend, Minseok. Digital Arts. "Okay class, today you will be partnering up with somebody to come up with a few logos for the principal's daughter.

She's making her own clothing company and needs something that draws attention, but is also simple. The winner will be awarded with cash. And please, children, keep it PG." Before I could tell Minseok my ideas that I had brewed up while listening to the teacher, a girl in our class paraded up to him. "Hey, Minseokie. Wanna partner up with me," she asked, batting her fake eyelashes.

Minseokie? "No, thanks." "But why?" she whined. "Because he's mine," I broke in. She gave me a harsh glare as I motioned my hands for her to go away. She did, but not before muttering a name under her breath, probably somewhere along the lines of "bitch".

I unlocked the door to my house, walking inside. There was a note on the fridge that read:

Your dad has a concert in New York, so he'll be gone for a week. I'm staying with my parents for a week as well to take care of them. As you know, my mother is very sick and my father is too old to take care of her. Your brothers are staying at their friends' houses for that amount of time too since I know how much they annoy you when we're gone, so you have the whole place to yourself. We left some money in an envelope on the counter just incase you need anything.

p.s. please don't burn the house down.

Love you,
                   Mom

Sweet. I decided to text Minseok the news after I changed into some workout clothes. He was currently in his studio room, writing new songs.

Me:
Guess what.

Minseok:
What?

Me:
I have the whole house to myself this week. You know what that means?

Minseok:
Tell me. ;)

Me:
Or how about you come over later, and I can show you?

Minseok:
Why not now?

Me:
Because I'm going to go for a walk.

Minseok:
Okay, baby. Be careful.

Me:
I will. Love you.

Minseok:

Love you too, and I'm looking forward to seeing you later on tonight.

I slid the phone into my back pocket and went out the door, locking it behind me.

The sun was setting fast as I hiked around the park. Hardly anyone was there. On my way back through the woods, fireflies lit the night sky. The moon illuminated the narrow path I walked, and me being me, I fumbled over a stick or a rock here and there. An opening in the trees came into view.
