You were the princess of a very powerful and rich family, and the kingdom used to be flush with bright green grass and beautiful flowers that filled the spring air with a sweet aroma.
Everyone spoke freely with happy words, and the children would play about the town, dogs running by their sides. But that was a time when the townspeople would always have a smile on their faces. A time when your mother was still alive. Ever since her death, your father had become a rather greedy and selfish king, who was very unforgiving.
With this selfishness came death. Money was no longer easy to earn, and even bread was barely affordable. Families starved, and were hardly able to clothe themselves.
Many fell ill as they became desperate, drinking the same water from which their animals bathed. Dogs no longer ran with the children as they soon became food. With great sadness, the atmosphere of your kingdom changed. Grass soon turned to muddy snow, flowers wilting to nothing, and the once sweet aroma was replaced with that of rotting flesh.
The season was now winter, which meant the town that once was full of life, would be withering away even faster. As princess, and unlike your father, you couldn't just watch as your fellow people froze and starved, and you would always do as much as you could for them without getting caught by your father, making you a well respected individual.
The bitter cold air stung your face as you dragged your feet through the snow, lugging a sack of fresh vegetables and bread that draped over your shoulder into the village. You only had enough to give to those who came first, which was a difficult thing to do.
But since more and more people were dying, the less you had to turn away empty handed. "Princess (y/n)," they would all say, and bow before you appreciatively, taking the food from your hands.
The sack kept getting lighter and lighter with each passing person until it was completely empty, and even you gave that away. But there was one left. A lonely, elderly woman. "I'm sorry ma'am, but I sadly don't have anything left," you told her with an aching heart. "Oh, that's okay, Princess. There's always next time, right?" she smiled at you before turning and walking.
You knew that there probably wasn't going to be a next time at her age, especially with this harsh weather and scarceness of food. "Wait," you called out. She stopped and shakily turned towards you. You undid the scarf around your neck and placed it across her shoulders.
"There you go," you said, giving a warm smile. "Oh Princess, I can't accept this," she replied, reaching up to remove the scarf. "Keep it," you told her, placing your hand over hers, "you look better with it than I ever did anyways." A tear fell down her cheek, and you wiped it away. "Have a blessed day, Princess," she grinned and went on her way back home.
Walking through the village, you noticed a strange color out of the corner of your eye, which moved in the same direction you were. Looking that way, you noticed a face peeking at you from behind a tree, past the opening to your kingdom.
You took a step forward and saw the face disappear behind the dark rough wood of the tree. You continued to get closer towards the figure until you were finally inches away from the large trunk that hid whomever was behind it.
You leaned around the scratchy bark, startling the person hiding. They stumbled, getting caught on a vine, and falling backwards into the soft snow. You giggled and scanned the figure, taking in as many details as you could.
He had unique lilac colored hair and fascinating dark chocolate eyes. The attire he wore was all white. His skin was smooth and slightly tanned, standing out against the pale snow. A white crystal that was held by a black leather string lay against his chest.
You noticed that from his back emerged two large, white owl like wings, which he was trying desperately to hide. He was astonishingly beautiful.
"What are you?" you asked, taking a step closer to him. He fumbled with his words a bit before answering," I-um. I-I am your guardian angel, Princess." He quickly stood from the ground and bowed, his wings folding onto his back.
"What is your name?" Your curiosity was controlling your feet at this point as you kept nearing this strange being. "My name is Namjoon," he answered. "May I touch them?" you blurted.
"Wh-what?" He seemed a bit surprised by your question. "Your wings. I want to touch them." He nodded in response. You placed your fingers on his bicep, trailing them along his back. Once they came into contact with the silky white feathers, you could hear his breath catching in his throat.
"So you're my guardian angel, hm?" you spoke softly. "Y-yes, Princess." "The name is (y/n)." Running the tender skin of your fingers down his wings, you asked, "Why are you here?"
"I was asked by your mother to watch over you since the day of her passing, and make sure nothing were to ever harm you. She knew your father wouldn't be able to handle her leaving, and wanted me to protect you.
I heard so much about you from her, and decided to come see for myself instead of just watching from up above in the clouds, and she was right," he smiled. "Right about what?" you questioned. "That you are quite a charming young lady."
You blushed, looking down at your feet and smiling. When you looked back up, you saw that he wasn't there anymore. You blinked in confusion. "Daughter, what are you doing, standing out here alone in the woods? It's dangerous. Now come along."
