Phoebes P.O.V.
I couldn't believe he hit her. I didn't think he was mentally capable of harming another person like that.
But he's mentally capable of raping you?
No, he didn't rape me. He punished me, I deserved it.
No, he's a bad person and you know it..
"No.. He's my best friend." I whispered as the metal slid across my thigh again and again.
Jake left to go home for a couple of days because his parents were getting worried. He would be back by New Years. I felt like a piece of shit for letting things get as bad as they did at the apartment. Everyone's been calling at texting me to see if he hurt me again but on that day he dropped me off then left.
I stopped eating again and haven't been home in a day. I don't plan on going back until New Years. Every time I went back in that room, I got flashes from the other night. So, I went to the only place I felt truly safe, the tree.
-----------
"I love you honey." She whispered in my ear.
"I love you too, Aunty. Where are you going?"
"Away baby. I don't know if-when I'll be back. But, you can always come here, this is our place, your safe spot. I promise." She place a warm kiss on my cheek.
------------
The only person who ever treated me like family died when I was six. She died of a brain seizure and I didn't find out until I was 12. There are pictures of her and I at this spot from the time I was born until she died.
I pulled my shorts back down over my thighs.
"Phoebe?" The familiar British accent called.
"Yeah?" Harry smiled walking over to me.
"Hey, where have you been? You haven't been to work in a week." He asked plopping down next to me.
"I got sick." I lied through my teeth.
"Well you're going to get sick again if you stay out in the cold like this. How long have you been out here, you're turning blue?" His green eyes were drowning in concern.
"I'm fine. I haven't been out here that long." I shrugged.
You're freezing and you know it.
"Well I was about to go get some hot chocolate, want to come with? I'll buy."
"No, no. I don't want to be a bother."
He's only pretending to care because he knows.
"You're no bother to me. I promise. You're blue and need something warm to drink."
"I-"
"Please, it would mean a lot to me if you came with." Harrys smile warmed my shredded heart.
"Fine." He smiled and stood helping me up as well.
---------------
"So, where's your car? Did you walk to that little park?"
"Yeah. I walk there all the time. It's.. It's a special place." I sipped the hot chocolate he kindly bought for me.
"What makes it special?"
"I-uh-I don't really feel like talking about it, let's talk about something else."
"Okay, sorry. Well, what are you doing for New Years? Hanging out with your boyfriend?"
"I don't know. All six of us are probably just going to watch movies."
"If you want, you can come over to my place, a couple of other people are coming over for a little party."
You really want to party with the people that bullied you your whole life?
"I-I..."
"You don't have to say yes or no, just tell me tomorrow at work."
---------------
"Are you sure you want me to drop you off here? I can take you home." Harry said pulling up to the park.
"No, it's fine. I want to be outside for a little while longer."
"Phoebe, I know you haven't been home in days." He sighed.
"What do you mean?"
"I go on a jog every morning and I've seen you here for the past few days wearing the same thing every time."
"Don't worry about me. I have to go home anyways, I can't keep missing work."
"Well, if you need anything let me know. And take my jacket if your going to stay out here." He handed me the jacket he was wearing prior.
I was about to protest be held his hand up to basically tell me don't worry about it, "You can give it to me tomorrow."
"Well, thank you. I owe you."
"Okay, bye, Pheebs."
"Bye, Harry."
