Chapter 1

2 months later

The twins had outdone themselves. The venue was decorated elaborately with the theme colours being white and gold, it was the exact wedding we’d imagined when we were young girls. Both their faces had been the happiest I’d ever seen them, I really was happy for them.

“I’m so happy for you guys!” I was hugging them both before they went on the separate honeymoons,

“When we come back we expect a set wedding date!” Isabella exclaimed,

“Don’t forget to get me something!” their grooms were dragging them away to their waiting cars,

“We will, don’t forget to call us!” Maria managed to shout before she was dragged into the car.

I slipped my heels off as soon as we got into our apartment, I still had a smile on my face from the wedding. I was taken by surprise when Darren scooped me into his arms,

“What!” he mimicked my tone, I linked our fingers together and moved into his side.

“What do you want our wedding to be like?” he mumbled into my hair,

“Can we have an outdoor wedding?” I propped up on my elbow as I started getting excited, I’d moved on from Jay and I was getting married to Darren-the person I loved most.

“We can have whatever you want.” I looked down at Darren, I couldn’t ask for a better boyfriend,

“How did I get so lucky?” I ran my hands through his short hair affectionately, he flipped us over so I was underneath his warm body.

“Don’t you mean, how did I get so lucky?” he kissed me, I didn’t get the same feeling when I kissed Jay, Darren’s kisses were different in a good way. My heart sped up, my skin tingled slightly and my toes curled in anticipation, the passion and urgency was getting stronger as we kissed some more. At that moment I decided what I had been contemplating for a while,

“Mate me.” His lips froze on mine he pulled back and stared into my eyes,

“I thought you wanted to wait until we got married?” he looked confused but I knew he wanted to mate with me as much as I did,

“I did because I was scared that you’d leave me like he did but I know you’re not going to leave me.” Darren instantly knew who I was talking about without me having to say his name,

“Mate me, Darren. I love you.”

“I love you too, Carmen.” He bent down and kissed me again.

I woke up wrapped up in Darren’s arms and I couldn’t wish for more, making the decision to be mated with him was my best decision,

“Morning.” I pressed a short kiss on his lips but he held my head so I couldn’t pull away. I felt myself get lost in the kiss, I savoured the feel of his warm lips on mine and the tingles of pleasure coursing through me, he finally broke us apart with a grin on his lips.

“Are you ok?” he gently ran his thumb over the mark on my shoulder a wave of pleasure ran through me,

“Just fine.” I hummed appreciatively,

“What do you want to do today?” I sat up next to him and wrapped the blanket securely around me and looked into his warm hazel eyes,

“Lay here with you all day.” I replied,

“So you just want to lay here and do nothing else?” he stroked the naked skin of my hip and stared intensely right into my eyes,

“I changed my mind.” I closed the narrow gap between us and kissed him deeply.

We spent the whole day cuddling on the sofa and watching cheesy movies together and joking around, not only was he my best friend but he was the love of my life, my eyes snapped to my ringing phone across the room, I dashed across using my speed and answered it.

“Hello?” I waited for a reply from the person but none came, I looked at the phone puzzled and then after a few seconds of making sure there definitely wasn’t anyone I ended the call.

“Who was it?” I snuggled back into Darren’s arms,

“I don’t know, I think it was a wrong number.” I pecked his lips and then focused on the movie again, before I got the chance to relax the doorbell rang. I groaned in frustration and got up to answer it, I should’ve heard them coming or smelt their scent but I guess I wasn’t paying attention.

“It’s you guys!” I hugged both Alex and Mike, it had been just over a month the last time I’d seen them, they would’ve come to the wedding if it wasn’t for pack business. I’d been relieved to know that once Mike had took over the pack they no longer participated in illegal business. They exchanged ‘hellos’ with Darren and then began to ask me questions,

“So how has college life been treating my big sister?” I grinned at them, I’d missed their fun banter, “It’s been fine…” I answered cryptically, I glanced at Darren questioning whether I should tell them that we would be getting married.

“What do you mean?” this time it was Mike’s turn to be confused,

“Darren and I are getting married and we’d like you guys to be our best men.” We’d decided that my brother and his mate would be perfect for the role of best men because Darren didn’t have any siblings. I grinned as I watched realisation dawn on their faces,

“My little sister’s getting married!” Alex grabbed me in a bear hug, I laughed dizzily as he spun me around, after a while he put me down but I was just gathered into Mike’s arms,

“Congratulations, Carmen.” He kissed my cheek and then congratulated Darren too,

“There’s more news.” I waited for them to focus on me,

“You’re pregnant!?” Alex glared at Darren,

“No!” I blushed slightly as I denied his claim but deep down I wouldn’t have minded having Darren’s child but we were taking one step at a time. We were both still in college.

“Alejandro, I want you to give me away at our wedding.” I looked into his eyes and watched as they grew watery,

“I’d be honoured!” I hugged him again and whispered into his ear,

“Are you crying?”

“No, of course not!” I rolled my eyes knowingly at his denial,

“And I thought I told you not to call me Alejandro, my name is Alex!” I laughed and punched him lightly.

“What do you say we go out for dinner and celebrate?” Darren took my hand and squeezed it affectionately. We all agreed and soon enough we were on our way to dinner.
