Last chapter and then the epilogue and alternative ending will be put up! Sorry for not uploading, my first week back at school was incredibly busy.

Enjoy!

I knew this was going to happen, I was just waiting for him to make his move and he decided that now was the right time, it was quite frustrating. I’d thought that Jay had finally got the message but it turned out he obviously hadn’t.

“This isn’t going to convince me to get back with you.” I crossed my arms defiantly in front of me as Jay drove the car farther away from my campus,

“Then what is?” he turned his head away from the traffic in front to glance at me,

“Nothing.” And with that I turned my body away from him and stared out of the window thinking about what had just happened. Jay had come out of nowhere and literally dragged me away from my car and bundled me into his, I sighed thinking about how Darren must be going out of his mind with worry.

“Where are you taking me?” I peeked at him from the corner of my eye to see him smiling at God knows what.

“A small café, so we can talk about us.” He continued smiling.

Even if I had wanted to escape I wouldn’t have been able to, Jay held my arm firmly all the way to a seat inside the café. He abruptly let go of my arm, making me fall into the seat,

“I heard about what happened with Owen.” Shrugging I just looked out the window again,

“Why did you take Darren back?” this time I looked at him, straight in the eye,

“Because I love him.” My short statement seemed to make anger flicker in Jay’s eyes,

“You’re meant to love me, not him!” he bashed his fist against the table rattling it and attracting attention from nearby diners,

“Not after what you did to me.” I leant away from him and relaxed back into the seat watching him warily,

“I’m your mate! We’re meant to forgive each other!” he ran a hand through his hair and took a deep breath,

“Did you seriously expect me to forgive you after what you did? You cheated and lied, you didn’t even say sorry!” I hissed at him,

“Darren lied to you too.” He shot back with the same tone almost immediately,

“He didn’t cheat!” That seemed to shut him up. We sat in silence after that consumed in our own thoughts and that’s when it seemed to hit me, everything made sense now, everything that we had gone through made total sense.

“We never really loved each other in the first place.” I said breaking the silence,

“What do you mean?”

“We were never fully in love with each other, I guess we didn’t have that special connection that other mates have. And I don’t know why you want me back, maybe you realised what you gave up; I don’t know.” Jay seemed to think about it for a while before saying something,

“You’re probably right.” I watched him as he buried his head in hands looking upset.

Jay’s POV

Carmen was right, we never really loved each other in the first place. This was wrong, what I’d been doing all this time was wrong and bringing her here was even more wrong, Carmen was a good person and didn’t deserve all this.

“I’m sorry.” I watched as her head snapped up in shock,

“What?” I laughed at the cute face she made,

“I’m sorry for everything I’ve done, I’m sorry for cheating, for lying and for dragging you here.” She laughed at the end putting me at ease but what she did next shocked me. She got up and hugged me,

“It’s alright.” She whispered in my ear.

Carmen’s POV

By the time we got back home from the café it was around 9 PM, I know I should’ve called Darren but this was important. Talking to Jay had tied any lose ends and now we were both able to move on, as I tried to get out the door Jay stopped me,

“Call me if you ever need anything, it’s the least I can do after everything.”

“I will, take care Jay.” I waved at him and made my way inside. As soon as I opened the door, Darren grabbed me into his arms,

“Thank God!” I returned his hug basking in the feel of his arms,

“Where did you go, I was so worried!” his panic stricken eyes made me feel even more guilty for not calling him,

“Jay took me from school and we talked.” The warmth of his arms disappeared as he dropped his arms from around me,

“I knew he had something to do with him, did he hurt you?!” he scanned my body warily up and down ,

“He didn’t do anything, we just talked and we cleared everything up.” I led Darren to the sofa and cuddled up next to him,

“He was probably just lying to you he’s going to get to us again and don’t forget about Anna.” I remembered the conversation we had about Anna and couldn’t help but laugh out loud,

“No he isn’t and I think he’s falling for Anna!”

“My cousin?” he asked stupidly,

“Yep, he even admitted it.” We both ended up laughing together but the laughter was broken when he asked me the question he’d probably been avoiding,

“Are you ok about all this, I mean you don’t regret not being with Jay?”

“I’m absolutely sure, I realised that we never really loved each other, we never had that connection.”

“Are you alright about that?” Darren studied my face making me look down embarrassed,

“Yeah, because I’ve got you now.” Darren wrapped me in a hug again.

“I love you.” My heart swelled as I heard those words coming from Darren’s mouth, we could finally relax now, all the drama had finished.

“I love you too.”
