A Family's Happiness (Destiny Ninja Fanfic)

After standing around the clothes shop for hours and hours, Noka was relieved when she was finally able to be free from trying out different designs of clothes. Eventually, they bought a few that was easy for her to move around in since Hyuga knew she was always walking around the house. Then he and (Y/n) went into a shop to get extra groceries while Sohma kept an eye out for Noka so they wouldn't lose her again. But he couldn't help but notice her staring at the dango stall for quite a while.

"Do you want one?" Sohma asked her as she looked at him with large pleading eyes.

"I'll take that as a yes," he chuckles and went to buy a few for them.

Sohma watched as Noka stuffed her cheeks as he paid for them. He couldn't help but smile but was worried if she was eating too much that she wouldn't be able to eat lunch. Just as he thought about that, Hyuga and (Y/n) came over to them after they were finished with their groceries.

"You bought her dangos?" Hyuga asked Sohma.

"She looked like she really wanted some, bought you guys some too," Sohma said.

"Thanks."

They finally arrived home where (Y/n) immediately started preparing lunch while the rest went to their rooms to rest. Actually, Noka was the one who followed (Y/n) to the kitchen.

"Noka, can you pass me a bit of the salt?" (Y/n) asked her and she grabbed a jar full of it, placing it on the counter next to her.

"Thank you," she says smiling at her before grabbing a pinch and sprinkling it over her cooking.

"I'm almost done Noka, you can rest and wait until it's dinner, okay?" Noka nods but before heading out the door. 

"I forgot to get those herbs..." she heard (Y/n) mumbles and look at the jar. She walked over to get closer and took a whiff from it.

"It's okay, I think I can use a different recipe," (Y/n) pats her on the head to assure her as she walks off.

To Noka, the smell was familiar and she could've sworn she saw the herb in the forest when they went out. Even though they told her not to, she ran out of the mansion and into the forest again. A pair of green eyes watched Noka from the trees as she went in and followed after her. 

The weather was slightly hot today but the tall forest trees manage to make the ground shady making it really peaceful. She wandered around the forest with a blank face and only following her nose. 

"It should be nearby..." she mumbles to herself as she looks around the ground. 

"What are you doing?" she jumps when she hears a deep voice behind her and there was the man she met from the stables the other day.

Hyosuke flashes a grin right close to her face but changes when he moves away "What are you doing out here? It's dangerous you know that," he says.

"I-I... was looking... for herbs..." she squeaks. 

She expected him to be angry at her since the incident at the stable so she hid in her hood. 

"Oi, are you that scared of me?" he pouts which made Noka slightly worry but he still had his cheerful mood up. 

"You said you were looking or herbs right? What kind of herbs?"

"Uh... the ones (Y/n) uses.. in soups," she replies.

"Ohhhh, I know that but I'm not really sure if we can find them since they are pretty small?" he looks around as Noka sniffs the air. The wind blew by and she started sprinting off.

"Hey- wait!" Hyosuke ran after her as she sprints fast. 

Hyosuke manages to keep up easily, of course, since he is a ninja but she was especially fast yet the path she was going through was steep. She still wasn't even wearing any shoes yet she was careful not to get any rocks to cut her feet. He finally stops when Noka was at the root of a tree and Hyosuke peeked over her back. She was collecting the herbs and using the cape of her hood to carry them.

"Hey you found them!" he says with an impressed looked. Noka stood up, still carrying the herbs and looked up at him. 

"I usually get herbs so we would sell them in town for extra money while Bro would go and find work in town," she says as they started walking back.

"You have a brother?" Hyosuke asked.

"I... do..." she replies but there was a sadness in her voice. Hyosuke quickly tries to change the subject by thinking of something else to talk about.

"Hey! Look over there!" he points over to a patch of flowers and runs over to them. 

"These are great in dishes and (Y/n) always uses them in her cooking!"

She follows after Hyosuke and thought about it. "She still has those but I think she has only a little left..."

"So, let's pick a lot of them!" he says cheerfully as he began picking them off the ground. Noka let him put the herbs on her cape as he collected more.

She then sniffs the air as if she found an interesting smell. 

"There!" she exclaims as Hyosuke tries to look where she was looking.

"Huh? Where?" his eyes finally adjusted and he finally sees bright red cherries hanging from the trees. 

"Cherries!" the two of them said in unison while happily running towards the trees and immediately began picking them. Hyosuke notices the way Noka kept looking at the cherries first and smelling them before she picks them.

"You really are good at this," he compliments her.

"I don't like eating sour cherries so I always make sure they're ripe first!" she says proudly.

"Me too! I don't like eating sour cherries so I always make sure to pick the best ones too!" he exclaims happily and throughout the passing time, they continued to collect as many fruits and vegetables along they could carry. 

It was getting late when they got back and as soon (Y/n) heard about them coming back, she immediately went to check on her.

"Noka! How many times I told you not to go out!?" she scolds her but immediately hugs her. 

"Thank you for looking out for Noka, Hyosuke," she thanks him as she stood back up.

"No problem, but you should check out what we got! We pick tons of stuff along the way here!" they both showed her the fruits and herbs.

"My! That's a lot! Speaking of food... Dinner's almost done! But with the fruits, you came back with I'll try asking Hyuga if we can make any desserts," Noka's eyes seem to light up when she heard that.

"Noka, please stay in your room now. I'll bring your food once I serve everyone else, okay?" she nods happily and runs off.

After serving food to everyone, (Y/n) began making Noka's food and a thought popped into her head. She brought back a lot of ingredients and she wondered if there's anything, in particular, she likes to eat. With that in mind, she went on her way and arrived at her door.

"Noka, may I come in?" (Y/n) politely ask as she heard footsteps from the other side. The door opens and she stood to look up at her.

"Is there anything, in particular, you really like to eat?" she said as she bends down.

"To.. eat?" Noka tilts her head.

"Yeah, but something for dinner at least..." 

Noka thought about it until she finally answers "Katsudon?" 

(Y/n) smiles and slowly closes the door "Alright, be right back..."

Meanwhile, Hyuga was playing mahjong with Enya and Goyo. 

"......" Hyuga focuses intently and before he could place his piece.

"HYUGA I NEED YOU TO TEACH ME HOW TO MAKE KATSUDON!" (Y/n) burst through the door loudly that made everyone jump.

"Kat...su?" Hyuga looked at her weirdly "Don't you suffer from enough calories already?"
