Chapter 2 – Run, Rabbit, run Rabbit, run, run, run...

{One week later…}

Arianna looked out the passenger window of Kelly’s car as drizzling rain trickled down the glass. She started slightly when Kelly just reappeared in the car beside her.

“God damn it, Kelly!” Arianna hissed as Kelly shook her hair out, water droplets flying everywhere.

“Sorry…” she smirked slightly as she planted her foot on the accelerator, speeding away from whatever scene she’d just caused. Arianna sighed. “What? You were the one that found a known murderer and led me to him.” She shrugged. “Seriously, with that gift of yours, we could eradicate crime in the area overnight with help from a couple other vamps…”

“Bad idea.” Arianna replied in a creepy sing-song voice, aware of a presence tailing them both. “Kelly… could you drop me home?”

“Sure…” Kelly frowned worriedly. “Something up?”

‘I think we’re being tailed…’ Arianna replied mentally. She winced as she felt whoever it was try and push past her mental defences. ‘They’re strong…’

She turned towards home, umbrella over her head, the wet hem of her skirt blowing against her ankles as the col night air brushed past her. “You know, there are better ways to find out things about somebody than following them, you know?”

“Spoil sport.” Arianna shuddered and turned to face Marilyn. “I wasn’t sure if you knew it was me or not…can’t seem to find my way inside you pretty little head.”

“There’s an excellent reason for that.” Arianna offered him a small smile, but it faded a little when she saw an eerie fog creeping in about herself and Marilyn; shadowy figures darting about them both in the mist, never quite coming into view. “I should be going home…it’ll be dawn soon…”

“And why would you worry about the sun?” Marilyn’s pleasant smile had changed into a malicious, cunning grin. “Human…” Arianna’s eye widened. How had he figured out about the stasis spray? She shivered at the eerie, disembodied laughter that came out of the mist. As she took two steps back from Marilyn, his eyes glinted wickedly. “Run, little girl…run…
