Remember the bottle that was given to Frodo by Galadriel? If you wondered what Frodo says to light up the bottle the phase is "Aiya Eärendil, Elenion Ancalima" and it translates as "Hail Eärendil, brightest of the stars".
So who is Eärendil anyway?
Eärendil is a half-elven from the First Age who also happens to be Elrond's father. Eärendil carried one Silmaril into "the seas of heaven", becoming a star. Frodo's bottle is supposed to carry the light of the star within it.
