Jasmine's POV:

After a few hours of studying I ended up in the hospital wing. Harry had gotten attacked my one of the dementors that was guarding the school. George, Fred, Seamus, Neville, Ron, and Hermione were standing around Harry's bed. "How's he feeling? I asked curiously as I walked up to them. "He just woke up a few minutes ago." Hermione replied. "How are you feeling?" I asked Harry curiously. "Horrible, my broom was destroyed." He said, which made me grin and shake my head at him. "Alright, alright, clear out you lot! He has to rest!" Madam Pomfrey said as she shooed us away. "Jasmine, are you staying at Hogwarts for Christmas?" Fred asked curiously. "Actually, I am. Why do you ask?" I said as we walked towards the great hall for lunch. "We're staying too. You could join us in our pranking." Fred replied. "Yeah, it'll be great having someone inside Slytherin tower." Gorge piped in. "Then you could pull all sorts of pranks on Malfoy." Ron said, which cause an outburst from the whole group. We ate our food and parted ways. I headed to the library while Fred and George went around pranking people. Ron and Hermione went to visit Harry again, and Neville returned to Gryffindor tower. "Miss. Shacklebolt, could I have a word with you in my office?" The distinct voice of Dumbledore said from beside me. "Sure, Headmaster." I replied as I packed my belonging and followed him to his office. "So, what did you want to see me about?" Asked once he sat down at his desk. "Please, have a seat. Lemon drop?" He said as he gestured to a crystal dish on his desk. "Oh, no thanks." I said as I sat down. "I'm aware that professor Snape has asked you to become his potions assistant after next year." He said. "Yes sir, he did." I replied. "I have talked to him, and convinced him to give you extra lessons during the Christmas holidays. I'm sure you won't mind getting a head start on your studies." He said with a growing twinkle in his blue eyes. "Of course not. I love potions, and processor Snape is brilliant." I said, which made the old wizard smile. "I'm glad you enjoy learning from him. He takes pride in his capabilities with potion making. He has applied for the Defense Against the Dark Arts position countless times, but I prefer him as potions master." He said as he put a lemon drop in his mouth. "Now that you mention it....it would be odd seeing him teaching a different subject." I replied. The door suddenly opened, and when I turned around I saw a familiar face. "You wanted to see me, Headmaster? Snape said in a questioning tone. "Yes, I wanted to inform you that Jasmine has agreed to do extra lessons over the holidays." Dumbledore said with a smile and a twinkle in his eye. I swear his eyes sparkle way too much! "Very well, we will be starting the second day of Holiday break." Snape said. He seemed rather pleased that he was going to be working with me. I was pleased as well. At least this would give us an idea of how it'll be like for us working together. "You both may leave. Have a wonderful day." Dumbledore said with a smile. "Good day headmaster." Snape and I said at the same time, which freaked me out a little. Snape and I walked down the hall in silence for a while before either of us spoke. "I'm looking forward to working with you Miss Shacklebolt." Snape said, which shocked me. "I'm looking forward to working with you as well, professor." I said with a smile. We continued to walk in silence before I spoke up. "Would you like to go on a walk? I know it's a bit cold and it's drizzling rain-" I said, but he cut me off. "I would love to." He said with a faint smile on his lips. We headed out into the chilly afternoon air and put up our hoods to shield us from the rain. I didn't know why, but I felt a certain pull towards professor Snape. It wasn't necessarily a romantic pull either, even though he is quite handsome in my opinion. I think it's because he's full of mystery and I feel safe around him. I haven felt this safe in a long time, which really surprises me. We walked to the edge of the forbidden forest and stopped underneath a few trees. The leaves had already fallen, but it kept most of the rain off of us. "I understand that you don't know your biological parents." He spoke up. His choice of topic kinda took me aback. "Yeah, I was raised in an orphanage before I was adopted. My foster father went here, but my foster mother is a muggle." I replied. "I guess that's why you're such good friends with Mr. Potter." He said the name with a slight lip curl. I could tell he didn't like Harry from the stories he has told me, but I didn't quite know why. "He doesn't know actually." I said. "Oh." Snape replied with furrowed brows. "Sir, if I may ask. Why do you dislike Harry so much? I know he can be slightly annoying, but-" He cut me off yet again. "It's a long story, and besides....it's not really any of your business." He said in a grumpy tone. "You know more about me than I know about you. Even if my records are open to any teacher here to read freely," I said as I crossed my arms. "And I don't enjoy people knowing much about me either, professor." I said arching an eyebrow. "I'll tell you over holiday if you prove to me you can be trusted." He said with amusement in his dark eyes. "That seems fair." I replied. "We best get back. It's starting to rain more, and I don't want my favorite student getting sick." He said. "Favorite? I thought Draco Malfoy was your favorite student." I said with a smirk. "He hasn't been very reliable this year. He's more interested in power and girls." Snape said, rolling his eyes. I burst into a fit of giggles, which seemed to amuse him. I never thought I'd see the day that professor Snape rolled his eyes. "Do I amuse you?" He asked with a wicked looking grin on his face. "Possibly." I replied as I stopped giggling. "Good, maybe I could amuse you during a detention this Friday." He said with a joking look in his eyes. "You better be careful professor." I said with a wide smile. "What on earth for?" He asked curiously. "I might just take you up on that offer." I said, and he chuckled. He literally chuckled! It sounded so deep and heavenly. "Well, I better go to my office and work on tomorrow's plans." He said. "And I better get studying. See you later professor." I said before I started to leave. "Wait." I heard him say, followed my his footsteps. "Yes, professor?" I said in a questioning tone. "Thanks for inviting me on a walk. I quite enjoy your company.....actually." He said with a full lipped smile. "You're welcome. I enjoy your company as well." I replied smiling. "Have a good rest of the day, Jasmine." He said sweetly. "You too....professor." I replied. 'Did he just call me by my first name?!?! And...did...we just kinda become friends?!?!?' I wondered to myself. I rounded the corner and found Ron, Hermione, and Harry standing there with wide eyes. "Who were you talking to?" Harry asked curiously. "Professor Snape, why?" I said with furrowed brows. "Told you." Hermione said with triumph in her eyes. "There's no way that was the dungeon bat of the school. Whoever it was laughed, and I don't think that greasy git is capable of laughter." Ron said. "Well, maybe he took too much calming draught or something." Harry suggested as we walked towards the library. "Yeah, that's it. That's the only logical explanation." Ron replied. "Or, Jasmine just knows how to make him laugh." Hermione said. "I doubt it." Ron said. "Despite popular belief, he is human." I said before we walked into the library. I was surprised that Madam Pomfrey let Harry out of the hospital wing so soon. "Anyway, Harry is going to talk with professor Lupin tomorrow. He's going to ask him if he can help him defend himself against Dementors." Hermione said as we took a seat. "That's great, I'm sure he'd be willing to help you." I said with a smile. "How did you manage to make Snape laugh? Seriously, Jasmine, what did you two do?" Ron said. "That's none of your business, Ron." Hermione said before she hit him. Harry and I suppressed out laughter as we talked about the up coming holiday. Hermione was most excited about the visits to Hogsmead. I was excited about starting my extra lessons with professor Snape, but I decided to leave that part out.
