A/N: As I promised a while ago I'm trying to update once a week, so here's a quick Gabriel fic I wrote, just so I could keep my promise. I'm working on a project that is taking up most of my free writing time right now, but once it's done I'll be back to my usual ~2500 words long one-shots. Enjoy!

A/N vol 2: Just before editing I noticed that this story has reached 1k, thank you so much!!! *sends out virtual hugs*

_________

The morning started off as any other, perhaps a bit happier. You pulled away the curtains and smiled wildly at the beautiful sight in front of you. How long had it been since the last time you woke up in your own home? It must have been at least 3 weeks. When your parents left you the house they didn't expect you to be on hunts all the time, they didn't even know that there is something out there that's worth hunting, except for animals.

You had taken a few days off, declining every hunt that the Winchesters had offered you. It was going to be your weekend. Yours only. Yesterday when you arrived you had cleaned up the house a bit, after 3 weeks the place looked a bit dusty. Now, after having your morning coffee you headed to the local supermarket to get all the stuff you needed. What could a girl want on her birthday? You took 2 bars of chocolate, a curd cake and a bottle of wine, also some everyday stuff like milk, bread, coffee and cheese. You were shaken out of your bubble by a loud cheer from someone nearby.

"Y/N, I haven't seen you in ages. What brings you to town?" Martha, your former classmate from ages ago pulled you into a hug. Ughh.

"I still live here... from time to time," you fake smiled.

"No way, I haven't seen you for years, how's that possible?"

"Oh, I'm always away, work stuff you know," you continued with your fake smile and tried to move away from her, she followed you.

"Work? I see... What do you do for a living then? We haven't heard of you after your parents moved away," she looked up and down on you, you could almost hear her judging you in your head.

"Well, you see I'm a..." you were cut off by someone's hand landing on your shoulder.

"I thought you had already left without me," he said. You recognised his voice right away.

"I might just do that," you replied and shot him a half-angry look.

"And who might this handsome gentleman be?" Martha's face lit up, knowing that she'll have bomb story the next time she meets up with all the awful bitches from your old class.

"He's just a f..."

"Y/N's husband," he smiled widely and offered her his hand.

"What a surprise," she gasped, "We always thought that Y/N will be the old maid," she giggled. Old maid? I beg your pardon you stupid piece of chewed plastic!!!

"Well, I guess you just took my title now didn't you? We have to go now, bye!" you calmly said and enjoyed her facial expressions turn from pleased to furious. You took Gabe's hand and pulled him away from her, he looked at you and then turned to look at the still furious Martha.

"My, my Y/N, I didn't know you were so fierce," he finally said when you were at the check-out already. You replied nothing.

"What are you doing here? I'm supposed to have a few days to myself, just to myself," you said when you were packing your stuff.

"Oh please, I've heard that before."

"I'm serious! Go fly off, do some angel stuff," you half begged. He looked at the stuff you were packing.

"A wine and a cake? Are you expecting someone over?" he seemed more serious.

"I am not, now I can't say it was nice seeing you but bye for now," you took the bag and started to walk away.

"You're having a date?" he stated, looking worried.

"I might be, I might not be. It is not your problem," you said coldly. You used to get along well, maybe even too well but for the last few months, you had heard nothing from him. He had disappeared after you had drunkenly kissed him, it was still not one of your proudest moments. Suddenly he placed his hand on you and the next second you were back at home.

"I'll be staying here," he informed you as he sat down on your couch, he looked angry and to be honest he scared you a bit.

"Out," you replied.

"I'm not letting some kind of a God knows who come here and spend their night with you!"he shouted making you take a scared step back, he didn't seem to notice it, " you can introduce me as your brother, since you can't know him too well now can you? How long have you been seeing each other? A week? Two weeks?" his voice was almost threatening.

"There's no one, and I am asking you for the last time, leave!" you shouted back.

"I'm not leaving you here with a strange guy, he might be a..." he shouted but you cut him off by shouting back at him: "I haven't seen you for two months and now you come back to ruin my birthday? What have I done to deserve that? I am sorry that I kissed you the other night, but that's not a reason to turn my life upside down, just leave me alone! You've hurt me enough already!" the last part came out half sobbing.

"It's your birthday?" he asked, it looked like he had finally understood how harsh he had been with you.

"Like you'd care!" you wanted to shout but your voice cracked. Through your teary eyes, you saw the expression on his face change from angry to sorrowful. He walked closer and tried to hug you but you pushed him away, he wasn't giving up so easy and the next time he did that he succeeded.

"I hate you," you cried into his chest.

"I'd understand you if you did, but I'm feeling like you don't mean it."

"You ass!"

"I'm sorry, I really have been an ass. I thought that if I won't see you I'd forget about you. It's not common for an angel to love a mortal, but I guess I was wrong, it doesn't help." Did he say, love?  You shifted your gaze to his face, his usually bright eyes looked sad and distant.

"What do you mean?" you asked after a second.

"I love you, you stubborn old maid," he smiled.

"I am not an old maid!" you claimed and he started laughing.

"Not for long," he said and kissed you. It wasn't an eager, needy kiss. It felt like he'd be afraid you'd break yourself away from him and turn him down. He seemed almost surprised when you didn't.

By the end of the night, you were sure that this had been your best birthday ever.
