As Damon and I were walking down the busy streets of New York, I couldn't help but notice the many stares I got from many men, and a few women. It was flattering really. Even now as we walk past a club the men hollered and wolf whistled as I walked by. I winked at a few of them and kept walking down the street with a little pep in my step. Damon however was a bit of a party pooper.
"Damon why are such a debi-downer right now? We're in New York!" I exclaimed as I danced down the street with him trailing behind.
"Something's different about you." he observed. Did I forget to tell him my switch flipped? Oops.
"That's because I have no emotions silly." I sang my response. I turned around to look at him and he had a blank look on his face. "Oh come on, don't be like that. I'm more carefree this way! You always liked when I was carefree." I said with a bit of a pout and stopped walking.
"Elijah will kill me if he comes back and finds out that you were with me when your switch flipped." he said placing his fingers at the bridge of his nose.
"Elijah this. Elijah that. Who cares what he says?" I said with a scoff and began skipping down the road.
"What happened Bailey?" I heard Damon ask. I turned around and took out my phone and tossed it to him and kept walking. I heard him sigh and mutter an "oh" before his feet started scuffing after me.
"Yeah, oh." I said in a chirpy voice. That was the end of that conversation. The rest of the night I had a blast, and Damon didn't dare step in my way.
The next morning was a bright and sunny one. A great day to get into some trouble. Damon however was still sound asleep next to me. I rolled my eyes at the oldest Salvatore brother and hopped up and walked towards the bathroom to shower. As I was showering I decided to start singing All Star by Smash Mouth. I finished my showering routine and hopped out and dried off, wrapping a towel around my body and walking back into the hotel room. I rummaged through the bag I brought and decided on a pair of black ripped skinny jeans, and a black halter top and a pair of black heels. Once I was done getting dressed, I decided to to put on some makeup, but not the kind I usually put on. I decided on blood red Chanel lipstick and a dark smokey eye with heavy mascara, to bring out my eyes more, and to look more like a predator. By the time I was finished Damon had finally awoke from his slumber and slumped out of the bed.
"Well good morning sunshine!" I cheered as I walked out of the bathroom and towards him who just glared at me and walked past me and into the bathroom, closing the door behind him. I smirked and walked over to the bed. I sat on the bed and flipped through the channels of the hotel tv, finding nothing interesting. I sighed and stood up and walked around the hotel room trying to find something to do while waiting for Damon. On second thought, maybe I should leave without Damon. He certainly turned into a snob ever since he fell in love with Elena. Now he must "do the right thing". Bleh, how boring. I smiled and grabbed my bag and walked out of the hotel room not caring that Damon wasn't ready yet. He'd find me eventually. How long that would take, I have no idea. I put on my sunglasses and walked out of the hotel and into the New York air, breathing it in deeply. New York was a city that anyone could get lost in. Brooklyn was more my scene other than Manhattan though, so that's where I headed. Walking down the streets of Manhattan I got many looks from all of the posh people, judging me. Then there were looks from others who seemed they didn't belong up here and they looked at me with admiration. Probably wondering how I got here without having a job up here of something. Not like I cared. I walked to the subway and took the next one to Brooklyn. Getting off the the train I felt like I was kind of at home. I've never been a posh person. Always wanting to go to bars, and little whole in the wall places. Those were my favorites, always had the best to eat too, and I'm not just meaning the food.
Walking down the streets of Brooklyn I got many looks from almost everyone. Which I didn't pay attention to. I smirked at a couple guys and winked at a few others, but other than that I kept to myself, like always. I felt a vibration in my pocket and pulled out my phone to see Damon's name pop up on the screen. I sighed and answered it.
"Hello Damon." I said in a bored tone.
"Where are you?" he questioned automatically.
"What? No hi?" I asked pretending to be hurt.
"Hi, now where are you?" he said sarcastically.
"Now now Damon, what's the rush? New York is a big place, so let's play my favorite game." I said smirking even though he couldn't see.
"No Bailey, no games. Where are you?" he said sternly. See what I mean? He's no fun anymore. I sighed.
"Guess you'll just have to come find me." I said with a smirk and hung up on him before he could respond with some smartass comment. Walking through town I spotted a little diner and decided to check it out. Walking in, I knew it was probably a mistake. I could smell the odor of a wolf. Scrunching up my nose I walked up to the breakfast bar and sat down next to a man who seemed to be in his late twenties. A waitress walked up and asked for my order.
"I'll have a sweet tea and a BLT please." I said and took off my glasses. She smiled at me and nodded. I smiled politely and turned to the guy sitting next to me. He had a computer sitting out on the table and was intently staring at it. I decided to not interrupt even though I wanted to. The waitress came back with my tea and I took a sip, feeling the burn of an herb I know well.
"This taste, it's very unique." I commented as I sat it back down. She smiled and shrugged.
"It's an herb we use, it's called vervain. Isn't is lovely?" she asked. I could tell she wanted a reaction out of me. I knew she was working with the wolf I smelt when I first walked in.
"It is indeed." I said and picked it back up and took another sip. She nodded with a small smile and walked away. I saw her stop in front of a man at the end of the bar. With out a doubt I knew that was the mutt. He looked stricken and I couldn't help but to chuckle. Not even five minutes later she came back with the order. I smiled and took a bite of the delicious sandwich, only to have that familiar burning yet again. I smiled and looked down the bar to discover that the mutt was looking at me with confusion. I lifted up my tea and smirked and took a sip of it. I finished my meal and laid my money out on the table. I decided to be nice and pay for the mutt's meal too. I walked down to him and leaned against the bar.
"I don't know who you are, but I certainly know what you are, and I know you know what I am." I whispered to him. I saw him stiffen and heard his heart beat quicken, which made me smile. The waitress walked over to us.
"Ma'am, you left too much." she said trying to give me the change. I refused and smiled.
"I'm paying for my friend here." I smiled and took a piece of wolves-bane out of my bag and ran it across his bare arm that was hanging low. He began to growl and stiffen with pain. I smiled and stopped and kicked off of the bar. "Enjoy the rest of your day." I said with a smirk and walked out of the diner. It's always fun to mess with wolves. Especially since they never know what they're getting their selves into. As I left the diner I put my glasses back on my face and with a smirk plastered across my face, I began to strut down the street yet again. I've missed the familiar feeling of being carefree. It's like having a weight lifted off your shoulders, you know? Don't have to worry about anything or anyone. Best part about it, no pain. There's no pain to be felt, well, except physical of course. Feeling a bit bored I decided to go back to the hotel and wait for Damon, knowing he's out of his head looking for me. He's probably going crazy honestly, worried what Elijah might do to him if he told him he lost me in New York. Then again, Elijah won't be the only Original he would have to worry about.
Pulling out my phone I dialed my favorite person's number, only to have him not answer. He's probably too busy plotting his way to make more of his crazy hybrids. I scrolled through my phone until I found a name of the person I wanted to bug. The perfect name popped up and I smiled, dialing it quickly. As usual the pickup was almost immediate.
"Bailey, Damon has been blowing up my phone. Where are you?" the voice of Stefan rang through the phone.
"Oh don't worry Steffy, I'm safe and sound at the hotel." I said in a sing song voice. I heard him sigh heavily through the phone and I know he knows.
"You know, I'm just gonna do to you what Lexi did to us, right?" he questioned.
"Guess you'll have to find me first." I said with a chirp.
"What do you mean find you? You're in New York." he said in a bored tone.
"Maybe for now, but who knows where I'll be tomorrow, or a month from now. You know I like to travel Steffy. And hide and seek is my favorite game." I smiled even though he couldn't see it.
"True, but I know all of your favorite hiding spots." he said in a matter of fact tone.
"Maybe that's true. But who says I'll be in one spot for so long?" I countered.
"Just come home Bailey. We can talk this over. I don't know why you switched, but I'm sure we can work out whatever is wrong." Same old Steffy, always wanting to do the right thing for his friends.
"See, I can't do that Stef. I'll tell you what's wrong, but there is no working it out." I said in a bored tone.
"Well, tell me what's wrong?"
"Okay. Here it goes. Nothing's wrong. Not anymore." I laughed and hung up the phone and threw it on the ground smashing it into little pieces, the metal lying on the ground in shambles. Smiling in triumph, I walked to the edge of the street calling a taxi.
"Where shall I take you miss?" the taxi driver asked politely.
"Airport please." I said with a smile. He smiled and nodded. When I made it to the airport I paid the driver and walked into the airport and to the front desk.
"Hello ma'am. How may I help you?" the woman behind the desk asked.
"Hi, I was just wondering what time the next plane to London, England leaves." I said taking off my glasses. She smiled and typed away on the computer.
"Looks like the next plane leaves in 6 hours." she said politely.
"Awesome, is there any seats available?" I questioned. She began typing away again and looked at me with a smile.
"There was actually a cancellation. Would you like it?" she asked. I nodded my head and smiled. She told me the total and I paid the amount and waled towards the gate so I wouldn't be late. A few hours has passed and there's only about an hour until the plane leaves.
"Flight from New York to London now boarding." comes over the intercom and I get up and walk to the gate with a smile on my face. I smiled at the attendant who took my ticket and I walked onto the plane and sat in my seat. I put in my headphones and looked out the window, ready for the plane to take off and I can leave this whole thing behind me, and start new.
