Bryson

"I got a budget?" Byron questioned, and looked around the mall.

I shook my head yes, and handed him one of my cards.

It had around four thousand on it.

"Don't buy anything outrageous"

"Why not, bro?"

I sighed. "Nevermind. It's your money now"

He walked away, and I turned to Leona.

"You want something too?"

"No, I think your brother'll spend enough for the both of us"

"If you change your mind, let me know"

"Why do you let him talk to you that way?" She trailed behind me.

I froze for a second, and played it off by zipping up my jacket.

"He hates me"

"I don't think that he hates you"

"No" I shook my head. "He hates me"

I'm almost certain that it's a fact.

"He doesn't" Leona tried to argue with me.

But, I knew my own son.

"Okay" I mumbled, and just gave up on the subject.

"Ain't nothing here. Take me to my mama's place" Byron popped up.

"You got a key?"

"Nah, but she there"

"No she isn't"

I had spoken to her, and she went out of town after he left.

"Yes she is"

"I'm telling you that she isn't. It isn't really debatable" I looked down at the floor.

"This shit fuckin' sucks, man" He rolled his eyes before walking off, probably to the nearest exit.

"We should - we should probably go" I spoke in a quiet voice.

I had to remind myself how sensitive I was being to help stop it.

"Okay, yeah. Let's go"

-

"Can I stay with you or something?" Byron asked Kejuan.

"No. I don't fuck with rugrats"

"I'm in highschool"

A/I: bitch, I'm not. Gang gang gang

"So? My answer still no"

Byron sucked his teeth, and walked around the club.

"Y'all got codeine?"

"Get the fuck out of here. Young ass lil boy"

"You wack, my dad wack, everybody wack"

"Let me whack the shit out you"

"CPS on speed dial" Byron reminded him.

I sighed, frustrated with today.

"Get out forreal, cause my girls ready to get to shakin' and bussin'."

"Let me take a seat. Tell one of em come over so I can get me some experience"

"You ain't even yo daddy son"

"Bye Swan" I stood up, and slapped hands with him before waiting for Byron.

"Go ahead to the car, I'll be out in a minute" Byron waved his hand lazily in my direction.

"I got extra security for the girls, so don't be surprised when two more people pop up tonight" I informed.

I didn't ever want anybody to get hurt.

"Aight, you showing your face?"

"Not tonight"

"Aight, I'll catch you on the slick side. Cause I'm slick"

As soon as I got outside, I snatched my glasses off of my face.

"I don't - I don't understand this shit" I wiped at the tears that dripped off my eyelashes.
