What the heck is this? Why do the editors* seem to think this section is even important? It's just a waste of space explaining certain parts of me, a dictionary. If you don't know how to use a dictionary why do you even have one? You cannot say anything to convince me that this section is useful in anyway at all. Stop trying, I am an all knowing dictionary. What do you mean I'm not 'all knowing'? I am totally the wisest of the wise. Have you seen my definitions? Oh yeah, I know things. So maybe if you stopped questioning me, the dictionary of definitions that you picked up, you'd know how to properly use me. Anyways, ahem-
What is a dictionary?
-Me. I am a dictionary.
Entry words.
-Basically the words that you'll find inside me. They're in alphabetical order.
Compound words.
-Two words used as one. Joined by a hyphen (the line - yeah, that one), joined by no space (kindoflikethis), or with a space ("cross roads" like that).
Homographs
-These are gay charts used to measure the results of an experiment. What? That's not what they are? Ha, like you know anything. Be quiet and let the all-knowing dictionary do the work.
Variant spellings.
-The same word spelled in two different ways. Weird.
Parts of speech.
-That stuff that you were supposed to learn in English class and you're tested on it every year. Yeah, those things. Nobody really knows them. It's okay.
Idiom
-Um, this is something kind of complicated for your tiny brains. I'll skip it, look what a kind book I am!
Roots and inflections.
-The other thing you never learned in class and how you say certain words.
Sample pages
-Something corporal dictionaries get to have, not that I'm jealous.

Defined by a Dictionary
HumorWe use dictionaries (online or book form) a lot in our lives. However we never know what the dictionaries are thinking about themselves. Mostly it's sarcastic comments about word definitions.
