The boy hadn't reappeared since the last time I saw him, cleaning my wounds and allowing me to eat the food he graciously brought. Honestly, I don't think I was allowed to eat or drink anything in the first place, but he was nice enough to bring me them.

My muscles ached from being in the same position for so long. Even without the chains on, I never moved. I mean where was I going to go? I had no energy to move in the first place, I could barely keep my head elevated. All I'd do is look at the bandages, the ones that the boy placed on my wrists when he cleaned them.

My eyes burned from the lack of sleep I had received since I was placed here. Each night I would squeeze them shut, hoping that I could drift off into my dream world where I was safe and that angel could make me feel better. Just for one night. Yet, every time I thought I was reaching the threads of that realm, I was jerked back to reality once more.

To my surprise, the door to the stone room opened silently. And the boy that had bandaged my wrists was standing next to a familiar blond-haired woman.

"Are you shocked?" Kylie asked, sauntering into the room with her head raised high. She had a wicked smile on her face, almost like the ones you see in those horror films when you know the killer is going to enjoy murdering you.

I shuddered, wondering what could possibly make her smile that way.

She knelt down to my eye level and grabbed my chin, slowly moving it from side to side, almost like she was examining me. Then she hastily threw me back against the wall, and got up. She turned and pointed angrily at the boy. "You!"

"Me?" He asked, resting his shoulder against the door frame.

"Yes you! You fed her didn't you? I knew I couldn't trust you to do this job. What, did she manipulate you? Trick you? Or do you just like her enough to want to save her?" Kylie seemed to spit the words with venom, and if I was the boy I would have been deathly afraid.

"What? No!"

"What does she appeal to you? Do you want to kiss her, hold her?" She dragged out the words appeal, kiss her and hold her, like she was making a point. I just look dumbfounded at him.

He set his jaw, "No, she doesn't appeal to me. I wouldn't want to touch that horrid thing."

Kylie narrowed her eyes,"Oh really? Then why is she out of her chains?"

"I have no idea, she must have found a way out."

"Right, I see. Then tell me, Zane, why does she have your scent on her? You were forbidden to walk in here, that was a rule."

He looked at a loss of words.

"I forced him in here." Both sets of eyes turned to me at what I had just said, actually, I'm surprised I said anything at all.

"What?" Kylie asked.

"I said, I forced him in here. I was screaming to get his attention and when he was in here I seduced him." The boy, named Zane, had looked at me strangely when I finished that sentence.

Kylie now turned back to him after looking at me suspiciously, "Is that true, Zane?"

"Yes." He said hesitantly. "It's true."

"I see." She came down to my level once more, and before I could blink she slapped me across my face. "You do not have the right to trick your superiors!"

I placed my left hand upon my cheek and told myself not to cry from the pain, if I showed her weakness she would quickly use that against me.

"Hey! You didn't have to hit her, Seraphine!" Zane shouted.

"Oh yes I did, she thinks she can just escape if she uses you. That's her lesson." Satisfied in hurting me,  she got up and walked out of the room. Zane just stood there, looking at nothing in particular, just staring off into space.

With no light in the room, my heart rate increased again.  You can't trust anyone in the dark, you have to rely on your other senses. And with me being the vulnerable heap that I was right now, I was at his mercy. He could do with me what he wanted, which terrified me.

I tried to look around the room, in hopes to spot Zane, though it was practically impossible.

I felt something touch my cheek, the one that was forcibly hit before. I knew without thinking that it was Zane, but the way he was gently touching my cheek it felt like he was caressing it.
