With Summer

With summer’s green a garland o’er

The fields and trees that greet mine eyes

I sit and drink from nature’s cup

A feast of life enriched by sun

Morning's rise of misted pearls

All lifted to the clouds on high

Greets the life that busies forth

A fresh new day has just begun

And as we watch light's passage through

the filtered trees and 'cross the sky

We dive with swallows, dip with swifts

And play with fox cubs as they run

And then in rest we dream and drift

A' sheltered in the earthen glens

With joy entrapped in rapture’s snare

In beauteous web by nature spun

Until with flames the sky is brushed

and evening cools the lambent air

The bobbing path of lanterns glow

and so back home, the day is done
