The Light

Then a light winked out: a small light in a universe of stars, my one small beacon; the one thing I lived for. Despite this universe of light that surrounds me; street lights, cars, the sun. Despite the constant noise, like waves on a shore; despite the plethora of sounds and continued susurration of conversation that surrounds me with its tidal ebb and flow, I am alone.

Alone, and adrift, in a sea of gentle understanding provided by those that surround me; those I love.

But they don't understand about the light: she was my light, she was my life.
