Things slowly went back to how it used to be. I began hanging out with Maya and Lucas again and even Farkle and Smackle seemed to be patching things up. It felt amazing. Everything's right once again.
The sky's so blue today. It looks really pretty. The air even feels fresh and new. And the thought of being with Farkle made it all sweeter...
It made me smile.
I spent a good chunk of the day digesting not only our lessons but also what Lucas told me. Trust. It made me realize how little I know about relationships. I know a lot about liking someone, sure. I've been in this relationship with Farkle longer than he has, honestly. But now that I'm with him, what's next?
"What are you thinking about?" I hear a voice, which made my heart thudded faster.
"I was just planning on leaving," I said. "Going home, I mean."
"I'll come with you."
"Huh?"
"Would you rather be alone walking home?" Farkle said, sounding dejected.
"It's just that you're spending an awful lot of time all by yourself, you know?" He paused for a bit. "I want you to be with me."
"I am with you, Farkle," I said to him. "We may not be together all this time but it's you I'm always thinking about. Trust me."
"I love you," Farkle said.
"You know what?" I said. "It feels weird hearing you say that."
"Really?" He asked, grinning impishly.
"Then... I love you! I love you! I love you! I love you!"
"Always?" I asked.
"Always." He answered.
That made me laugh. For the first time in a really long time, I felt happy.
And that's all because of him.
