If I lay here, if I just lay here, will you lie with me and just forget the words? Forget what we're told before we get too old, show me a garden thats bursting into life. All that I am, all that I ever was, is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see.

Alex came back from the war two weeks ago, and you tried your best to try to make him feel like he never left. Like all of the terrible things never happened, like he had always been here in your arms, happy.

But it didn't work that way.

Alex would stare at the wall, a blank expression on his face, his mind racing with thoughts and memories from the war.

His hand traced the bed sheets, biting hard on his lip, his breathing slow and heavy. His head snapped up when he heard the sound of the door click open, to see you standing there with worry in your eyes.

You stared at him, your hand on the door, waiting for something. But you didn't know what.

"Lay with me."

You squinted at him in confusion, tilting your head to the side a bit.

"Please."

You nodded, furrowing your eyebrows, walking over to him and closing the door behind you. You laid down on the bed next to him, pulling the covers over you, and turning your head to look in his eyes.

All he could see was your eyes staring at him.

Your perfect, perfect eyes.

He could see you talking, but he couldn't listen. He was focusing on you, only you.

You jumped in surprise when he suddenly put his hand on your cheek, pulling you in for a kiss. His hands lowered to your back, and you wrapped your arms around his neck.

He pulled away, resting his forehead on yours.

Alex's eyes fluttered open, licking his lips slowly.

"Stay here tonight and hold me. Forget everything, just for tonight."
