Seppuku is the samurai way of honour, ritual suicide, usually reserved for males only. It is carried out if the samurai has failed and brought dishonour to his clan, or is captured in war to avoid torture.

The method of suicide is by plunging a short knife, traditionally a tantō, into your abdomen, and slicing it open from left to right. Sometimes, a second person is involved in this, who'd slice the samurai's head off, leaving a strand of attached flesh, once the seppuku is in motion.

For the female version, it's called jigai, and it is done by severing the jugular vein with a kaiken or tantō.

Depicted here is Akira Oda, last descendant of the Oda clan, about to carry out seppuku... She has been through a lot and is constantly abused by her father and her forced-marriage husband. The wounds on her body were seemingly inflicted very recently. To her, it is better to die with honour at her own hands than to endure further shame and humiliation from the two men that she hates the most. Her expression is blank, like she is already accepting her death.

Whether she succeeds or not, that's a different story..

Yeah, I'm having pretty dark thoughts lately... Shoutout to Jadenite_12 for essentially being crazy with and supporting each other haha

Oh, and here's some portrait revamps of my old OCs, Sentimus Heapp and Slynke Epsilon (they look so different now lol) :
