Anna was working behind the counter with Jo when Michael entered the café.

“Michael? What are you doing here?”

“Anna what has happened because Castiel looks like he died.”

“Bit complicated, that.” At that moment Adam walked in. “Excuse me Michael.”

“Jo! Could I have a latte please babe?”

“Sorry Adam. I have a rule about not serving murderers.”

Jo stood her ground and stared Adam in the eyes.

“What?”

“Adam I know everything. You messed with the wrong chick.”

“And so what if I did? What if I killed them? That doesn’t change what we have.” Adam was whispering as not to draw attention to himself but when he reached for Jo’s hands she pulled them away.

“Adam you lied to me, you tried to frame my friend for a murder you committed and in doing that you completely broke my other best friend. You are not the only good thing in my life Adam and I won’t drop everything just because you don’t fit with them. They have done more for me than you ever did so this actually changes everything.”

“All this because I killed the Novaks? They we needed them dead. We needed Lucifer in our gang! There were disposable and good bargaining chips.”

“They were people Adam! People with children! Anna I hope you got all this.”

Adam looked at Anna with confusion and Jo physically saw his ego deflate when he saw Anna holding her phone, recording the entire conversation.

Anna addressed her older brother who was standing to one side taking in all the information that had been thrown at them.

“Michael, hold him.” Adam tried to run but Michael grabbed him and sat him on a stool.

“You are not going anywhere.”

Jo pulled out her phone and dialled 911.

“The police are on their way Adam. Before you leave I have a present for you.”

Jo stood in front of him and fastened the silver chain around his neck.

“A token so you know you failed.”

Jo gave him a kiss on the lips and walked back to the bar where Anna pulled her into a comforting embrace.

The police arrived 10 minutes later and by that time not only had Lucifer, Dean and Cas arrived at the café but Gabriel and Sam had also heard the commotion and joined the rest to watch Adam be taken away.

Everyone stayed in the café after and Michael paid for them all.

Cas felt like a huge part of his life in the dark had just been cleared up but he was still waiting for a proper apology from his older brother. Michael hadn’t said anything to him since trying to talk to him in his bedroom. Cas looked at his brother who looked equally troubled and caught his eye. Michael walked over to Cas.

“Castiel. Can we talk?”

“Up at the house?”

Michael nodded. Cas let go of Dean’s hand Dean grabbed him quickly before he left.

“Meet me on the hill tonight? We have to talk too.”

Cas nodded and Dean gave him a quick kiss. Cas blushed and left with Michael.

The walk up the hill was silent, neither brother wanting to start the conversation. Cas entered he house first and sat down on the couch. He looked at Michael expectantly and Michael sat down next to him.

“Castiel.”

Cas cringed slightly on the inside when Michael said his name. Michael always used his full name. Everyone else called him Cas, which he preferred, but Michael refused.

“Michael.”

“I overreacted.”

“Well I’m glad you see that.”

“I want you to know that I see that I was wrong. I think more than anything I was surprised you even spoke to someone.” Cas gave a light chuckle and Michael continued.

“I think more than anything I was slightly jealous as well. All I ever wanted was to help you Castiel and you shut us all out. I know you feel guilty and I understand why but we don’t blame you. If it had been anyone else would you have blamed them?”

Cas shook his head.

“And we don’t blame you so please. You can trust your own family.” Cas watched as Michael pulled something out of his pocket and handed it to him.

Cas opened it up and saw it was the picture he had drawn when he was small. The last time he saw it he had ripped it in half and left it on his bed.

“I found it the day you left. Anna wasn’t the only one who slept in your bed after you left. I taped it back together.”

Cas ran his finger along the rip in the middle. He tried to imagine Michael sleeping in his bed after he left. It wasn’t an easy picture for Cas to conjure up. He had always imagined Michael as an emotionless leader figure.

“Thanks.” Cas got up to leave. He needed some time on his own before he met Dean tonight.

“And Cas?” Cas smiled when Michael used his nickname.

“Yes Michael?”

“20 bucks Gabriel and Sam get together before the week is over.”

“I give it one extra week on top of that.” Cas smiled and they shook on it. Michael laughed along with Cas and Cas left to his room.

“Cas, We’ll eat dinner as a family ok? In about an hour you’re gonna have to leave the room.”

“Fine.” Cas grinned as he closed the door to his room. He sat on his bed and held the drawing in his hands.

He saw how carefully Michael had tried to tape it together. He ran into the living room and grabbed a pencil and some paper. He quickly shut himself back in his room and sat down at his eerily empty desk. He started drawing.
