"Cullen! Get on the road," Canley shrieks grabbing the wheel and turning it back to the left.
He laughs the deep laugh that all the girls fall for. "What's the matter, Can? You scared of the trees?"
"No! I just want to live to graduate and ditch this little town for the deep country."
He laughs once again and directs the pickup back onto the county road. She lets out a relieved sigh and punches his arm. He smirks and turns into his parents driveway cutting the engine with a smile. They walk up to the back door pulling off their muddy boots before entering.
His mom hands them a mug of hot cocoa as they sit at the breakfast bar. "So good to have you here Canley! Does he deserve to have his license?"
"Ah well I guess we can't expect too much out of him." She giggles smirking at him as he gives her the 'don't tell or I will be dead meat' look.
His mom laugh. "How those new pups of yours?"
"They are chewing up all my puppy toys and getting ready to go with me to town and such," she tells the mother like figure that she admires so much.
