astonished

"Hey, hey, hey!" Bokuto cheered, startling the girl as she walked in through the glass doors. She yanked her headphones out of her ears and smiled widely at Bokuto,

"Hey, Bokuto! Enjoy watching that much do ya?" she joked, walking past him and into the locker room. He followed her around like a lost puppy as she readied herself. Finally speaking when she sat down on a bench to put her skates on,

"I brought Akaashi with me today, he said he'd watch you!" Bokuto spoke, hiding his nerves with a upbeat tone, he knew she wouldn't be for this, at least not straight away.

"Bokuto," she sighed, rolling her eyes, "You know..."

"Yes I know that you don't like people watching you but you're really good!" He reassured her with a sideways hug from where he was sat beside her on the bench, "And Akaashi was hard to convince!"

(Y/N) glanced at the bi-haired boy and immediately resigned any attempt at protest,

"Okay, okay! But only this once!" she warned him, "I only let you watch because I like you!"

"Trust me, you'll like Akaashi too," at this, (Y/N) simply nodded, she hadn't heard much about Akaashi from Bokuto other than how good of a skater he is and she refused to judge him before getting to know him a little.

~~~
Akaashi was stood in front of the vending machine, contemplating leaving Bokuto and this girl to their own devices. But, of course, he wouldn't do that to a friend, especially not Bokuto. He selected a random drink and headed back to the rink, wondering what the girl would be like and whether he could ever trust Bokuto's word on a girl again.
~~~

"You came back!" Akaashi nodded an, of course and turned his attention to the rink where a figure was stood, her head up and grinning at the Bokuto, previously having been in conversation with him. "Okay, you can start now (Y/N)!"

"Did you make her wait for me to come?" Akaashi asked incredulously.

"Why wouldn't I?" Bokuto's innocence was plain on his face and Akaashi just sighed, refocusing on the girl and leaning his elbows on the side of the rink. The girl looked more nervous than she had before.

"Music, please, Bokuto?"

"Of course!" And he started the track.

(Y/N) drew in a shaky breath, lowering her head as the music started. The track began slow and quiet; she matched it with the tone of her movements. Only gentle spins and careful gestures and movement.

For the first thirty seconds everything was good although a bit boring and lacking of feeling, for Akaashi standards. He turned his gaze on Bokuto -who gave him a knowing smile- possibly the only one any person had ever seen on that boys face. While Bokuto may not know girls, he knows skating; Akaashi trusted him, so he diverted his attention back to the skating girl.

Almost immediately as he did so, the music picked up. Becoming fast paced with plenty of passion and (Y/N) easily weaved it into her routine. Her gestures became sharper and her quads, jumps and spins more dramatic but everything was still controlled, close to perfection. Akaashi could feel the waves of feeling rolling off the girl and the ice.

In that moment, everything else other than the girl on the ice became irrelevant to Akaashi. He only saw her movements, only heard the sound of her skates on the ice and only felt the emotions she portrayed so beautifully in her movement. He had never before felt like this watching skating, even when he was skating himself the emotion was not as raw and obvious to him.

When (Y/N) finished her piece, Akaashi had to forcibly close his jaw, much to Bokuto's amusement.

"I told you so," he chucked before running to the exit off the rink to meet a now-out-of-breath (Y/N).
