Draco is crying so he must felt something with the kiss.

That sentence repeated in her mind like a broken record. She could't help but hope that maybe they could work out everything.

"I miss this." She said between kisses and then Draco started to pull away.

"Damn it!" He cursed.

"I don't know why I let you kiss me!" He shouted.

"You responded to the kiss! It must mean something."

"Yes. It means that whatever I do, I will always be in love with you." He said weakly.

"Then-"

"I'm not finished." He snapped.

"You've hurt me too much and I'm scared to do relationships again." He confessed. Tears were still in his eyes.

"I tried so hard to forget you but it always failed. I love you that much."

Hermione was crying so she couldn't say a word.

"You know what? I already forgave you long ago." He said and wiped the tears in his eyes.

"But that doesn't mean that I'm ready to be with you again. I have more responsibilities now that I cannot abandon. My job-" He stopped mid-sentence as tears threatened to come out of her eyes once again.

"Do you know why I decided to talk to you today?" He asked suddenly.

Hermione shook her head.

"I'm leaving tomorrow. I'm an international auror now and they need me somewhere else." His tears were now rolling down his cheeks but he didn't bother to wipe them.

"I can't say no to them. I went to them when I was broken and they helped me regain myself."

"Between you and my job, I choose my job. You left me once, there is no assurance that you won't do it again." He added and this time, Hermione found her voice.

"I won't leave you again. Please don't leave me" She pleaded.

"I can't. I'm sorry." He looked down.

"Why are you so afraid of us being together again? It made you so happy." She said.

"It was all in the past. Everything's different now."

"Please come back to me, Draco. I miss you too much." She pleaded once more.

"Remember, you're the one who left first. I'm only doing what you did."

"But I'm here! I came back."

"And so will I. If we are really meant to be together, fate will bring us together. Maybe in the near future we could fix us, but for now, it's goodbye."

"I'll wait. But I promise you, we are really meant to be so wherever you are, your heart will always come back to me."

It was the last word she ever said to him and she will hold on to that promise. Always
