Freeze

According to humans, year sixteen is something special. Unique, and one of a kind.

My entire life has been awesome. I mean, what first grader gets to say, Yeah, I was almost charged with murder in the first grade after I froze my teacher. No worries, I got away with manslaughter. And my father did my time. And I ran away a month later cause it turned out Mom was crazy.

No one gets to say that.

Which means my entire life has been unique. Which is why I'm surprised to see a bolt of lightning emitted from a guy's hands. They hit a girl, but then wood explodes out of her chest and forms a shield in front of her.

I'll be damned, I'm not alone.

I watch the fiasco, a bit dissapointed that it didn't end how I wanted it to. Either way, I head towards Mr. Electricity and tell him I'm like him.

And that I can help.

He says I don't know what I'm agreeing to.

I say it doesn't matter, because I like living in the unknown.

He smiles. And he sticks out his hand.

I spit in mine, hold it to his, and just like that, I have a partner.
