Chapter 4

(The Sweet, yet Hunky Max --->)

James’ POV

Walking in to the restroom, I went to the mirror, hoping to calm the beast inside of me that was just dying to go after that sweet boy. I couldn’t understand this need, but it was strong, and all I wanted to do was possess him, and never let another man get near him; to mark him as MINE!

Looking at myself in the mirror, I wasn’t surprised to see the mask of indifference stare back at me. It was natural for me to have such a mask when I was in the office, but it was becoming too common to have that very same mask on outside of work as well.

“Ungh.” I was surprised to hear a moan come from the handicap stall at the end of the row of stalls. But I was more surprised when my body began to heat up again from the simple sound.

Bringing my hands up to my tie to put it back into its impeccable position, I couldn’t help but want to hear the sound again, and that confused me. That is until I saw the door open, and see my little boy come out of the stall and stop in his tracks as soon as his eyes caught notice of my presence.

As he slowly walked over to the sink to the left of me, I once again had to hold back the beast inside of me that wanted to be released and take control. It also didn’t help my control either with him being so close to me.

How could something so small and fragile looking as this boy, bring out the beast that I had always been able to hide away? Even with my other relationships, I had never felt this raw, primal need, and I was terrified of what I might do, not only to myself but also to the fragile angel right next to me, if I couldn’t keep it in control.

My usual passive expression was broken when, out of the corner of my eye, I saw his slender figure of a body, trembling and I couldn’t help but wonder if it was from what he might have just been doing in the stall, or if it was from being so close to me.

However, the thought of him being so easily affected while simply being close to me seemed more logical, especially after the constant blush he held throughout the meeting.

It had taken all of my restraint to not get up from my seat during the presentation and feel just how warm and soft his heated cheek must have been.

And now, with the obvious small shivers running all over his body, my face pulled up into a cocky smirk, and I found myself wanting to finally get the opportunity that Rachael had taken from me to hear his voice.

“Are you alright, Ben?” The feeling of his name rolling off my tongue only gave the beast inside of me more reins to come to the surface and take what it so evidentially wanted.

“I-I…uh…um…e-excuse me!” Ben sputtered breathlessly before dashing for the bathroom door, yanking it open, and running down the hall.

The sound of his sweet voice flew over me and in that instant my semi erect shaft went to full mast. The innocent undercurrent in his voice, mixed with what sounded like a hint of fear, lust, and shyness only made the beast in me more possessive, and truthfully, made the man almost as equally possessive.

The possessiveness in me was so strong my control was hanging by a thread. So much so I almost ran after the young man, but a small rational voice in me knew it would be best to stay away from him. At least until I knew how to control the floodgates he had seemed to open in such a short time.

Turning off the sinks that were still running, I dried my hands and made my way to my office, unable to get rid of the cocky grin that was still planted on my face. It seemed like I finally found someone that could bring these emotions out of me again, but was I really willing to open the doors to my own private world to someone new?

* * * *

I had only been in my office for about 20 minutes after getting back from the restroom before I heard shouting coming from outside of my office. Before I could get up to see what was going on, Rachael burst passed my door with an equally pissed off Samantha right behind her.

“I’m the Executive HR Manager! He’ll see me now and that’s that!” Rachael yelled back at Samantha before shutting the door in her face, then locking it.

“Ugh, I can’t stand her!” Rachael shrieked as she sat in one of the two black leather seats in front of my desk.

“How can I help you Rachael?” I asked half amused but also partially hesitant to egg her on.

“Well James, you can start off by telling me what you did to that poor boy?” Rachael said, trying to stare me down with her fuming gaze.

“I don’t know what you mean.” I said, schooling my features and looking back at my computer screen.

“Don’t lie to me James. I’ve known you since we were both in preschool! Now, what did you do to him?” Rachael continued to stare me down, but I refused to give in, even if she knows me better than myself at times.

“Nothing happened Rachael, so you can calm down.” I said, still not looking at her and pretending to be interested in some file that was loaded on to my screen.

“Oh, yeah, that’s why his face was pale white and he looked as if he was about to up chuck his breakfast.” I hated it when she got sarcastic. It was a habit that the person she was talking to would shortly break down and spill everything afterwards. And, unfortunately, I wasn’t an exception to that rule.

“I promise nothing happened Rachael! I walked into the restroom, saw him walk out of a stall, asked him if he was okay because he was shacking, then he barely spoke to me, and ran out the door. That’s all.” I said, giving up and looking at her, yet also not telling her everything. I didn’t need her to try and play matchmaker, which she has done on multiple occasions.

She was quiet as her squinted eyes lingered on me for a while before nodding her head. “Alright. I believe you.” I was hesitant, not sure if she was going to let the subject go and tried to move off the topic completely.

“Now, do you have those reports I asked for?” She nodded her head and placed the papers she was holding in front of me.

“Just out of curiosity, what do you think of my new intern?” She said, leaning against my desk and staring down at me. Of course; what else should have I expected from her?

“Don’t you have some work to be doing?” I asked, avoiding the question that I myself was dreading to even answer.

“Well?” She pushed further, refusing to answer my question first.

“Stay out of it Rachael.” I responded.

“Uh huh.” She said, but before she could turn out of sight I saw a smirk light up on her face.

“I mean it Rachael. Stay out of it!” She didn’t say a single word as she walked to my office door, unlocked and opened it, then left. But it was that smirk and her silence that horrified me the most.

Only God knows what plans and skims she was creating in her head at this very moment.
