Free Verse: "400 Thread Count"
For all the nights of my life
I've found my eyes tracing the ceiling's imperfections
and the feathers slithering from the pillow case
from in between the crimson sheets
where I count the loose threads
that fragments of memories are tangled in
and it's then that I finally realize
I'll be dead when I'm sleeping at last
