Year Six.
Sarah Ambre, the smart ambitious witch for Slytherin, her speciality was potions of course. Today she was avoiding no other than the trouble maker James Potter. He had took a very keen interest in her and she didn't like that, she was a Slytherin, she didn't waste her time with a Gryffindor, or anyone really. Sarah huffed at the thought of him, she didn't hate him but she did dislike him very much.
Sarah and another boy were the only two people in the potions room. The boys name was Severus Snape, Sarah didn't really talk to him a lot, he was always with Lily. She was a Gryffindor. As Sarah was concentrating making her complex potion, there was a loud bang from the other side of the classroom. Sarah's head shot up, Severus wasn't very good at potions, he was excellent at Defence against the Dark Arts. "Do you need some help?" Sarah asked, she wouldn't help anyone else, she was only offering her help because he was a Slytherin and she was the only one to help him as they were alone in the room.
"No" He said, but Sarah would help, not because she wanted to but because he was distracting her and he would carry on doing so unless he learned. Sarah pushed her classes back on her face and flicked her long brunette hair out of her face as she walked over to him.
"Your supposed to crush it not cut it" Sarah explained. He was trying to make living death.
"But it says to cut"
"I know, but- just try it again" Sarah said, moving all the equipment out the way and then gathered more for him to try again. "Go on then" Sarah said motioning to the equipment, while leaning on the desk. She was going to have to supervise him, he was going to help he become an excellent student in potions, but only if he would help her. An hour later and Severus had made the perfect living death, following Sarah's changed instructions, making sure he changed the instructions in the book too. "Now" Sarah began, turning to lean on the desk while facing Snape, her hand fell to her hip as she pushed her hip out to the side. "I could help you, but in order for me to do that"
"You want something in return, what is it?" Severus asked, sharply, ready to turn down her offer.
"I'll help you with potions if you help me in defence against the dark arts" Sarah said, still leaning, it gave her a sense of power over people and she knew that.
"Deal"
"Great" Sarah grinned, standing up and shaking his hand.

As time went by Sarah became closer to Lily too as she asked for her help too, which resulted in both Lily and Severus earned a place in the Slug Club with Sarah. The only problem with being around Lily and Severus was that Sarah gained more attention from James Potter. He was such a pest, she was starting to get more agitated by him everyday. This was because everyday James would come over to the three off them and start flirting with Sarah, which, even if Sarah didn't mind a little flirt every now and then, didn't respond to it. This was a mistake and perhaps she should of raised to it, then James may have given up his little quest to 'win her heart' as James had said.
It was nothing she couldn't handle but Severus kept saying that Sarah should inform a teacher, Sarah wouldn't do that. James was only bothering her when it was bothering Severus. They were always at war with each other. Every break, every lesson, every day.
"Sarah!" James shouted as he walked after her, picking up as speed as she did. "Hey" He said again, poking her in the arm.
"What do you want James? I'm sorta busy" Sarah asked, looking straight ahead.
"Well, I thought that- if you want, help me study" James said.
"Yes and I'm sure the studying you have in mind-"
"No! I didn't-"
Sarah cut James off and turned to face him, "I can't, I promised Severus" and turned to carry on walking to meet Severus. Lily wasn't there today, she wanted to study somewhere quiet, away from James, Sarah assumed. Lily did suggest they study in the library but neither Severus or Sarah wanted that. "Why do you hate James so much?" Sarah asked Severus but he didn't respond. He stood up to walk away, he didn't like talking about it with people he didn't know very well, he would only talk to Lily about it. "Severus! Wait, I'm sorry, I didn't-"
"Oi! Severus!" Remus shouted as they approached from behind the small hill, a group of people trailing behind. Sarah saw James trailing behind them, trying to keep his distance, this was why, Sarah thought, he could at least try and stop them.
"Just leave him alone" Sarah said, standing in front of Severus, not that did anything. Severus wanted to defend himself this time. He shoved Sarah out the way and took out his wand, but Remus disarmed him.

Sarah's eyes locked with James' she was about to beg them to stop, this wasn't right. James saw his moment to win her heart. He just had to save her best friend, her only friend. So he simply said, "Remus, leave them alone now... I think we've had our fun." James then walked off followed by his friends, perhaps Sarah would go after him...
