Chapter 15: Cigs are like chocolate

"What do you mean? I was home all day Friday? You can't just blame a crime on somebody without any moral proof" I huffed. "Then how do you explain this" the principle grabbed a small object out of the officers hand. It looked shiny and rectangular like.

She then opened up her hand and revealed an iPhone in the palm of her hand. I gulped as she twirled it around showing off my initials in the back. My initials were covered in jewels and glitter. What? A girl has gotta have some bling. Mrs.Vern was her name, crossed her arms waiting for a response from me. "I left this when i visited the park early in the afternoon". Mrs.Vern leaned against the office table wanting more out of me. "I was walking around the park but then a dog came by and started chasing after me. So I took off running leaving my phone behind". I was never really good at telling lies, but this one is gold. Last time I tried to lie they caught me off guard and knew it by the start I wasn't telling the truth. "I would believe you Shelby...but unfortunately I can't since the officer claimed the person dropping it at midnight on Friday". Dang it! She knew it. The officer was still staring at me. He never laid an eye on anyone else except for me, knowing I was the one who broke into the park.

"But unfortunately it wasn't me" I sassed. My sass comes and goes but it mostly comes whenever I'm trying to prove a point, even when this point was false by the start. "Shelby please, it would be better off by telling truth or else you'll face the consequences that are coming for you". Those words, how she said it made chills go down my spine. "I'm not lying I swear!" I protested. Stares from the workers started filling in. Before Mrs.Vern could say anything somebody from the background chimed in. "It wasn't her fault.." The boys voice croaked. We turn around and see Jason standing in a open door way. So he does spend his school time here huh? He walked towards me and grabbed my phone from my shaky hands. "I stoled her phone after school and snuck into the park late at night...I tried climbing the fence which was how I dropped the phone and left it in it's place". Jason sounded truthful, but

by the looks of his record I highly doubt that Vern would take the bite.

Vern gave him a cold concern stare. "From all the stories I heard I believe in this one". "How come you didn't believe in mine?" I asked. "Because miss Shelby would I really believe in you sneaking into a park at midnight?" She laughed. I crossed my arms and whispered " I can be bad". Jason must of had heard me cause I could see him form a smirk on the corner of his lip. "Now Jason, you have been reported couple of times-

"Twenty times" he went smart ass.

Vern cleared her throat and continued to speak. "From breaking into the park, I speak for the officer to say you are banned from the park". My eyes went big. My hands went sweaty. I could've been banned from the park....the park I had to save. I wouldn't be able to make it or go, or worse loose the fun raiser. Now I got my plans saved from a trouble maker. Weird huh?

"Whatever....the park is gay anyways". Jason walked off leaving me speechless for words. Once he left Mrs. Vern's landed her hand softly on my shoulder. "I'm sorry Shelby for accusing you in your presents. I know you were only trying to protect your friend from getting into more trouble". Friend?

"Um it's ok Mrs.Vern". "Ok well you should probably head back to class now. Ill write you a note". I nodded my head and took the slip she gave to me and headed off to class. I hope I missed most of it. Let's just say geometry isn't my thang. As I walked in people gave me stares. Pete didn't bother looking up. He was to busy doodling on his worksheet. I sat down and asked Tyler for some notes. "Here take mine" Pete said handing me his note book. I gave Tyler a stare and he just shrugged his shoulders. I grabbed his notebook and whispered" thanks". "Don't mention it. Seriously" he said all coldly. What's his problem?
