Present Day
Salamu alaykum! I said when i entered through the front door after Hamisu,
*yaya babbah*!(big sis) she screamed happily you are finally here! She exclaimed
How was your journey? How was the train ride? How is kano?
"Kai! Islam, one question at a time now, i hugged her to calm down her excitement, you are looking good fa, *yar karama*, or is it the wedding prepation? I asked her happily, she just hugged me tighter.
"I have missed you fa Salima, she said
"me too" i replied.
"Where is Mama? I asked after the hugs
"She's In the kitchen, she wanted to help out with the chin chin for tomorrows event", she replied
"I thought you made an order for that already? I asked looking puzzled,
"yeah, Yasir called me to tell me that 10 more guest will be arriving here, and since the ordering stuffs is a little bit congested due to the pending weddings, i decided to make it at home", she said smiling at me,
"just make sure you are not stressing Mama fa, i said in a serious tone.
"i am not stressing her, in fact lets go and greet her. She said pulling me to the kitchen.
From the parlour, i could smell Mama's hand work, it doesn't look as if it was only chin chin that is cooking, this smells more like *miyan taushe* (beans soup).
i went from behind to hug the most precious person in my life when i heard her say
"hajiya, i can feel your presence"
i felt a little bit disappointed,i wanted to surprise her,
"good evening Mama! I greeted then hugged her tightly, i kissed her cheeks
"How are you my dear daughter? She asked in a hushed voice, you can see the aging on her face, all the years of hardship and struggles is now showing, am so glad to have this woman as my mum, i smiled and replied to her
"How is your husband and the kids"? She asked again
"am fine, Bashir is in Germany for a business trip and Mus'ab is spending the holiday with Ummah in Kano.
"That's nice dear" May God continue to bless this Family, she said
"Amin Mama" I answered to her prayers then went to take a shower, before the usual chit chat begins.
Am sure Nana will be here by noon, i announced before closing the door behind me,
"its going to be a full house Islam screamed back at me.
