NETEKO, KADUNA
April, 1991"Why is the project taking you so long Bashir?
Mr Ahmad who is the CEO of steels and iron building company exclaimed irritatedly,
"Baba its not as easy as you think, they are people living there, trying to make a living, people with potentials his son stressed out."well, son we also got a project to finish which is also our means of living do you get that! He screamed angrily,
"yeah i do, just know that am not going to demolish these people's houses just so that we can build a mall which is of no good to them by the way", He replied exasperatedly.
"okay fine son, just make sure it looks nice,
"finally i sighed heavily
"Thanks Dad, i will and thanks for trying to understand even though you still don't "Bashir said teasingly before leaving his Dad's office.
"will see you at home then his Dad said just before the door closed behind Bashir.
That was how the argument of whether to demolish Salima's area or not ended.
For the past three month it has always been the topic of discussion, and finally we have come to an agreement.
Bashir might have grown up with a silver spoon, easy education, good live and also the assistant CEO of their company at the age of 27, but his heart was extraordinary good, sweet and compassionate.
He always had the passion of helping the needy, he always imagined how their life was, how they survive.
Salima really captured his heart, not cause she was a very young and beautiful lady, under does Facades of hers, but because her life was full of challenges for a young lady her age
He wondered as he stared blankly at a picture on the wall of his office. Those girls really need help. I said to myself quietly. A knock outside my door brought me back to my surrounding,
I almost felt like i was out of this planet.
"Yes! Come in i answered the voice behind.
"Sir! The meeting will start now my secretary announced,
"ok Usman will soon be on my way then i replied
he left.
I re-arranged my suit a little, then drank a glass of water from the despenser on my way out to easy my little worries then left for the board meeting.
On my way to the board meeting, i thought of how to propose a program to help the needy. I pray the buy the idea i said mentally rearrange the ideas and plans in my head.
Board meeting for me means responsibility, and i have to look competent enough.
