C H A P T E R  F O U R

The summer had begun, marking the end of her sophomore year. Olivia did not mind going to school that much. She just felt that high school dramas were overrated. She was quite well known in school, but that was only because of her best friend.

Harry Badeaux was a charmer. He had the ladies swooning over his smile, with those dimples popping out. However, he never paid any heed to them- the only girl he ever paid attention to was Olivia. That had caused her to be the victim of some amount of jealousy, but it did not bother her that much. She had Harry and that's all that mattered.

Olivia woke up on her sixteenth birthday feeling happy, but that sensation was replaced with confusion and hurt. There were no messages or voice mails wishing her a happy birthday, not even from Harry, who never forgot her birthday.

She moped around all day despite her parents' attempts to cheer her up. She grumbled that she had no true friends and that Harry was a piece of shit. After all, she never forgot his birthday.

"I have no friends. I'm going to live a lonely life. I'm going to end up as a sixty year old single lady with no friends and forty cats although I hate cats." she sighed about a gazillion times that day when her parents had had enough.

"Olivia Rose Barton, the day is not over yet. Who knows, maybe you'll end up having an unforgettable day." her dad left her to ponder over his words and wondering whether they would prove to be right, when her mobile started ringing. It was Harry!

"Hello?"

"Olive, I was hanging out at the beach with a couple of our friends. Come join us."

All her hopes were dashed, but she got ready anyway, pulling on a pair of denim shorts and a cute halter neck top. She wore a high ponytail and applied some lip-gloss, eyeliner and mascara. She might as well look good on her birthday although the fact remained forgotten.

She ran to the beach in her flip flops. It was just a few minutes away. When she reached there, she saw no one. Puzzled, she stepped forward when someone caught her from behind.

"Ahhhh leave me!!!" she screamed as they put a blindfold over her eyes. She felt a couple of people carrying her, giggling, laughing and whispering.

"This is it. I'm going to die on my birthday. This day cannot get worse." she thought, when someone dropped her gently on the sand.

She took off her blindfold, and stood up to a sight that brought tears to her eyes.

"HAPPY SWEET SIXTEEN OLIVIA!" shouted all of her friends gathered near her. She felt someone behind her and turned around to find Harry grinning like a maniac.

"I'm sure you were wondering why no one wished you. That's because we were planning a surprise party for you. Happy birthday, my Olive." He produced a small box wrapped in shiny paper. Olivia quickly tore open the gift to reveal a beautiful silver chain with a shimmering moon shaped pendant. She gasped, marvelling at the beauty of the jewel. She quickly wore it around her neck.

She saw Harry wearing a similar star shaped pendant. He saw her looking at it, and said, "We shine together like the moon and stars, my Olivia. Don't you ever forget that."

He said 'my Olivia'.

She looked into his eyes, those green orbs whose sparkles never seemed to dim, and realised that he was the one who stole her heart, with no intention of returning it back.
