I stared at the vials for long
Wondering what was inside
Sand, you said
Of different shades
And of different places
The moment I lifted one
You started singing
A song from our hearts
We could never forget
Sound that gushed through my ear that day
The lulling of the deep
An embrace of hope and unending joy
And a beaming face
Hands full of shells and assumed gems
Impelling
Peaceful
Exciting
Calm
I remember that day

To the next shade, the next place
The memory hot in my head
Cramped under the sailboat I waited for you to find me
I don't remember how long I was waiting
But I do remember you leaving me
And eating the rest of the pringles
I didn't talk to you until the next day
First I was uneasy
Worried
To disappointed
Upset
I can still remember

Of the three, the last one
The most intriguing
Light, fine as day
Filled up to the brim
As if you couldn't get enough
Then suddenly
The strings of fate played
Of an oriental lullaby
Slowly, they would fall in April
Five centimeters per second
Kaleidoscope colors
Making home in the streets of Tokyo

We danced
Difficult with a yukata
Fireworks stabbed
Vertically in the sand
Then time stopped
We danced
As if we couldn't get enough
Hopeful
Content
We sat among the sand when we couldn't stand anymore
I remember

You filled a vial with sand
Then smiled
"You see? Sand Vials!"
"Ah... Memories"
I smiled back
Contained in these little vials,
Kept
And treasured
Forever
