Pain of Stillness

Silently my soul sits
Unmoved within the shadow
Of my existence

The wind blows through
Like a hollow shell
I witness

Pain goes beyond pain
Beyond what pain is
Beyond what we can imagine

Thoughts wander like intruders
Through my mindscape
Left unattended

What I see stares back
But all I feel is this empty
Shell where I once was

I see not myself
In the mirror
Nor anyone else

The self is still within
A prison in its vessel
Silently screaming and crying to reawaken
But not knowing how
