New year

Maya's POV:

I sighed as I sat in a booth listening to Riley's on going New Years resolutions

Don't get me wrong, I love Riley to death but that doesn't mean I don't have to get bored.

But I was soon snapped out of my thoughts when I see Riley waving her hands frantically in front of my face

I jump startled and she giggles "Maya...were you even listening to me....?"

I look around and say "ofcourse...."

She crosses her arms and raises a brow challengingly

"Then what was I just talking about.....?"

I bite my lip and try to recall what she was talking about and make a futile attempt "about how your gonna kiss lucas when the ball drops...." I say meakly

Her face brightens and she claps "you were listening!"

I blew out a breath I didn't know I was holding

"Told ya....." I say leaning back into my chair

She sighs as she plays with her straw to her vanilla milkshake "What about you maya...whats your new years revolution....?"

I shrug nonchalantly "Nothing really, New Year resolutions are a big scam to get people to lie to each other about changing things only to be disappointed next year on how they never achieved the goal...."

She started at me wide eyed "Maya how could you say that?! Resolutions are hopes and dreams that people strive for to better themselves....."

I rolled my eyes at her cheesiness "Look, I don't care about Resolutions, but I will admit about believing in a goals list to complete by New Years...." I say eyeing my caramel latte

Riley grabs my hand to get my attention

"Maya, I believe in whatever you believe and if that's what you believe I'll listen...."

I smile and say "I do have this one goal, that I have been working on, but I just never had the chance to complete....-" I say trailing off

Riley squeals excitedly "What is it...??"

Before I could answer I hear a familiar deep voice that sent chills running down my spine

"Whatever could it be....?" the voice says teasingly

I turn to see Farkle standing behind my chair smirking

I snort and reply "As if i'll ever tell you...."

He chuckles and walks around the table to meet my gaze

"And why is that....?" he asks smugly, his eyes challenging mine

I roll my eyes and say "Because its none of your business..."

He grins and responds with "Hey, you know I'll find out sooner or later...."

My eyes flicker over to his lips and I smirk as I look into his eyes "You will...."

He didn't seem to notice my action and walks off to talk with Smackle who had just entered

I look back over at Riley to see her watching me amused

"What?" I ask innocently

She smiles widely as she replies with "Don't think I didn't see what you did there...."

I raised a brow and continued to play dumb "What do you mean....?"

She sighs exasperatedly and says "I saw the way you two flirted and the small millisecond you took to look at his lips....."
