Carmen: Make a poem, it's for our next adventure. Be here at 7
Ian: What does it have to be about?
Carmen: anything you like:)
Ian: does it have to rhyme?
Carmen: nope
Ian: alright see you tomorrow

I can't wait to take Ian to the place where I've always wanted to go. Head probably going to think it's weird but I want to see if Ian can get creative. I pick out my outfit for tomorrow; blue bottom down, black jeans, and some oxfords.

I'm going to write about Ian, I know it sounds weird but I think he'll be surprised on what I have to say about him.

The next day

Ian comes to the house and opens the window. As I get ready he sits on my bed and looks over his poem over and over again. I apply little makeup and we get ready to leave when my mom walks in.

"Honey I-" she looks at Ian and stops

She mouths to me 'is this him' and I nod

"Oh you must be Ian, I'm Mary. Really nice to meet you"

"Nice to meet you too Mrs. Smith" he says with a smile and shakes my moms hand

My dad walks in minutes later and sees him as well they make small talk and we get ready to leave.

"Be careful honey"

I wave and hop in the truck

"I like your shoes" Ian says while driving

"They're nice aren't they"I chuckle and watch the road ahead of me

Ian parks at this small little place with a small sign that says 'open' and asks where we are.

"A poem slam" I say with a cheeky smile

"Oh! I see" he hops out of the car and holds my hand while we walk inside

We take a seat at a small round table and order two waters. It smells like wine and cigarettes throughout the place. We listen to people's poems and they are so calming; some are just creeping. They talk about gory death and murders. It's my turn to go up and I look back at Ian.

"Good luck" he whispers

I sit in the stool and take a breath.

His eyes are like oceans
I drown in his eyes
His kisses keep me calm
He holds me tight when I want him too
He never lets go until I ask him too
The art we've done on my closet wall
The sculpture we climbed together
He is like home
I never want to leave him
My hand fits perfectly in his
Your smile is contagious, I can't get enough
Being with you is amazing and that's how I always want it to be

It's quiet and I look up and see Ian staring at me like he's never seen me before. He stands up and snaps his fingers, he looks at me more; I exit the stage. I sit back down and before he can say a word he is called up.

"Good luck" I whisper

I never knew her and I didn't bother
The car where we kissed and I held her
Her hair is soft and I love to hold her
Her eyes are beautiful I can't stop looking at them
She walks away but I pull her back
I plant kisses on her head and lips
She never sees me but I always stare at her
In the class, car, bedroom, closet, places we've traveled together
The window I crawl through every day to see her smile and eyes
You are home to me and I love being there

I smile and snap my fingers for Ian, we leave right he is finished and go back to my place. We exchange poems and he kisses me goodbye.

Ian is home to me and I never want to leave.
