Chapter 9 ~ Best Partner

Both Chase and Daniel seemed more at ease now. They sat peacefully on the rocks as me and Stefan walk down the riverbed. I could feel the pebbles underneath my feet as the wind blew in my hair.

"Take off your clothes", says Stefan in a serious voice.

"You don't intimidate me", I tease as I start tickling him.

He then returned the favor by tickling me but failed terribly.

"What? Are you not ticklish?", says Stefan in shock.

"Nope", I tease as I take my shirt off and so did he.

"You're hot Alex", he teased.

"You're hotter than me", I sulk.

"Yes. Yes, I am", he teased as he kissed me on the forehead.

"Shall we take a dip?", I ask as I remove my pants.

"Yes. Yes, we shall", he says as he enters the water.

"It's so cold!", I say whole getting in.

"The deeper side feels warmer", he says as he swims deeper.

"I can't", I say.

"What why not? The waters warmer here", he says.

"I can't swim.", I say embarrassed.

"Awh. That's adorable. Shall I teach you?", he says as he swims closer to me.

"I'm a little scared of the deep", I laugh.

"There's nothing to be scared off. I won't let anything happen to you", he assured me.

He then spent half an hour teaching me the basics as Chase and Daniel cheered on. I laid back trying to float as he held me with his hands.

"Balance your body Alex. Close your eyes and run your fingers through the water. Relax and focus", he says to me.

I close my eyes trying to relax and focus but my mind kept playing back what happened today with Kyle. Gosh, he must hate me now...

"I can't do it Stefan", I say as I open my eyes.

"You already are", says Stefan as I realize I was floating on my own.

Oh my gosh! I did it. I was floating!

"You did well Alex", says Stefan.

"Yay. I can't believe I floated", I say as Chase begins to clap.

"Let's take a break. Your fingers are getting pruney", says Stefan.

"Alright. Let's go be sun-dried prunes", I say.

We then headed out of the water as Stefan laid down on the pebbles. I then hurried my face onto his belly as I wrap my arms around his chest.

"So how exactly do you own this land?", I ask with my face still buried on his belly.

"I don't. My parents do", he says.

"Oh so you don't live with them?", I ask.

"Nope, I live alone. What about you. Do you have parents?", he asked.

"I never knew my dad, my mom raised me. She passed away when I was younger", I say.

"I'm sorry to hear that", he says.

"What about your mom?", I ask.

"Well my mom would be really happy if I came home", he says.

"It's complicated. A story for another day?", he asks as he runs his fingers through my hair.

"Alright Romeo", I smile.

He has such nice fingers. His hand was really soft.

"It's gonna be fun getting to know you Alex.", he says.

"Likewise. Let's both have fun", I say to him.

"Umm... Hi, I don't mean to disturb you guys but are you hungry? We bought extras", says Chase with a picnic basket in hand.

"Oh? Are you sure it's okay?", I ask.

"Yes. It's the least we can do after you let us stay here", says Daniel as he catches up.

"We'll be glad to", says Stefan as Chase lights up.

Daniel then sat down and Chase gave us our sandwiches.

"So are you both from around here?", asks Stefan.

"Chase is, we're both freshmen's at the university", says Daniel.

"Oh me too, I'm also attending", I smile.

"Hope we can be friends?", asks Chase as he gave us a big smile.

"Yes. That would be awesome", I reply.

"I don't want this day to end", sighs Chase as he looks to Daniel.

"I know babe but you sneaked out to meet me, your parents would freak out if they knew you snuck out to meet me", says Daniel as he ruffles Chases' hair.

"My parents would kill me if they knew I snuck out", says Chase.

"We still have an hour till they come home from work", says Daniel.

"They don't understand how much I love you Danny", says Chase.

"Even if they ground you I'd still find a way to see you", says Daniel as Chase starts blushing.

These guys were too cute. It seemed like they were fighting the world to be with each other. I was somewhat jealous but Stefan then grabbed my hand and gave me a reassuring smile. His smile is so pure. I can't sense any ulterior motive with him, from what I've seen he's a true gentleman.

"Well. We got to go now. I gotta get Chase back home", says Daniel.

"It was really nice to meet you guys", smiled Chase.

"Yeah, we should get back to. It's almost 6 PM", says Stefan.

We all then parted ways and we waved good-bye to our new friends.

"I know this wasn't the ideal first date but I had fun", says Stefan as we walked.

"Oh no. I had fun. You taught me the basics of how to swim and it was a job well done. You're the best partner. You were so patient with me.", I say.

"Oh, I'm so glad to hear that. I was afraid you'd be bored", he says.

"I don't think I'll ever be bored with you by my side Romeo.", I smile as I wrapped my fingers in his soft warm hands.

The sun was beginning to set. It was a cool breezy afternoon.

"We're here", says Stefan with a sad look on his face.

"I had fun, Romeo. I can't wait to do it again, here's something to hold you when I'm not around", I say as I leaned forward and kissed him on the lips.

It was a passionate kiss. His lips were so soft and beautiful.

"You're a great kisser Alex", he blushed.

"So are you Stefan", I smile.

"See you soon Juliet", he says as he kisses my hand, and let's go.

I then head back to the apartment with butterflies in my stomach. I walk through the corridor and notice someone sitting on the floor in front of our apartment. Upon further inspection, I realize it was Kyle. What in the world was he doing sitting on the floor? Oh, universe. What is about to happen?
