Dylan's POV

After being pulled out of Nicole's room, I sat in the waiting room and I cried. I couldn't keep myself together. It should've been me! I kept thinking.

I leaned my elbows on my knees and put my face in my hands. I started to sroke my fingers through my hair. "I can't believe I might loose the person I've ever loved this much," I whispered.

Then I felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked up and it was my mom. I immediately got up from my seat and embraced her.

"What happened?" My mom asked.

I pulled away and looked into her eyes and tears started to form in her eyes. "A drunk driver completely slammed into Nicole's side of the car and..." Tears were streaming down my face, it was uncontrollable, just like the accident.

"Sweetie..."she pulled me into another hug.

"Is Nicole's Aunt here?" I asked.

"Yes, she's in the room with Nicole." My mom replied.

It felt like my heart shattered into a million pieces and I could never live my life without her.

We pulled out of the hug and I saw Nicole's Aunt start to walk towards us.

"Cassie..." My mom said and walked over to her. They hugged and they were both crying.

"Mrs.Sparse, it was a drunk driver. It should be me in the hospital room..." I started to cry again.

"Dylan, this was uncontrollable, there was nothing you could've done about it. And you can call me Cassie." A small smile appeared on her face, but quickly went away when a doctor approached us.

"Mrs.Sparse, please come with me." The doctor said.

"Of course..." Cassie said and followed the doctor.

"We should probably go home, you look terrible. Oh, and there is no way you are going to school tomorrow," My mom said.

"But I want to be here as soon as I'm allowed to see her."

Then Mrs.Sparse came walking back to us.

"Any good news?" My mom asked.

"She's...she's in a coma..." Nicole's aunt said.

"It's all my fault..." I said quietly.

We stood there, staring at each other and trying not to cry.

"Is it going to be a long time before she wakes up?" I asked.

"The doctors don't know yet, they are working on it."

"Let's go home, Dylan. Cassie, can you call as soon as you hear anything?" My mom asked.

"Of course, I'll let you know if anything comes up." My mom and Nicole's aunt hugged and then my mom and I slowly walked out of the hospital.
