Chapter Fourteen

I continued sobbing, my eyes remaining on Enzo's body as I rocked back and forth in the foyer of the house.

My phone began buzzing, causing my head to shoot up before I saw the caller-ID.

I leaned forward, pushing myself away from the wall as I grabbed the phone, letting out a sniffle when it reached my ear.

"Cassidy, hey-" Damon perked, as I answered the phone in tears. "Cassidy.."

I let out a cry.

"Cassidy. Hey, what's wrong?" Damon asserted. "Is she still alive? Cassidy, talk to me."

"She's okay." I growled, holding my knees up to my chest. "Elena's okay."

"Well, those aren't tears of joy, Cass. What's wrong?" he repeated.

I clenched my jaw, shaking my head. "He's gone. Enzo's gone." I cried.

"What?" Damon beamed,

"He's dead." I reiterated, raising my eyebrows. "Stefan killed him."

"Listen to me, Cassidy. I am on my way, okay?" Damon assured.

"No." I growled. "Stay away..just stay the hell away from me-"

"Not until I know you're safe. I'll deal with Stefan." he bickered.

I laughed, wiping my nose as tears streamed down my face. "I already did." I breathed, leaning my head back against the wall.

"What do you mean?" Damon cautioned.

"I gave him the cure. He's human now." I confirmed, receiving no response from Damon.

"If you, or Stefan, come anywhere near me..I will not hesitate to tear your throats out." I spat, ending the call.

Damon killed Kai.

Stefan killed Enzo.

I let out a scream, throwing my phone across the room before I rested my head up against the wall.

I stood over the stove, listening to my tea-pot whistle.

"Cassidy.." Enzo's voice erupted, causing my face to fall as I looked around the kitchen. "Cassidy Gilbert, help me. Cassidy-"

"Enzo?" I whispered with narrowed eyes.

"Forgetting someone?" Kai taunted.

I whipped my head around, before a knock sounded at the front door, causing me to jump in my place. I let out a sigh, turning the stove off, making my way over to the foyer.

I slowly opened the front door.

"Bonnie?" I questioned,

"Cassidy.." Bonnie breathed, as I folded my arms. "Caroline called me. She told me what happened. I'm sorry. She said you didn't wanna talk to her..she's hoping maybe you'll talk to me?"

I held a long look, before Bonnie's eyes traveled directly to my hand, landing on the ring.

"Oh my God.." she muttered, taking my hand in hers, inspecting my finger. "You..."

I nodded, retracting my arm.

"Cassidy-" she shook her head, causing me to take a step forward, wrapping her in a hug.

Bonnie took me back to her Grams' greenhouse, where she placed Enzo's corpse across a large table, and began scattering flowers.
