Category: FALLING IN LOVE
018: I want to hear you sing

Pairing: Barry Allen x Jealous!Reader

Warning: So the setting is from that Flash episode when Barry and Caitlin sing karaoke. But hey! This is just the setting so the following will be based on that episode;)) AND there are some swear-words (is that warning-worthy though? IDK)

A/N: Here's a little something for y'all. The request's from Wattpad ;)

"Hey Cait, where were we supposed to meet up later? I kind of forgot..." It had been a long day at work for Y/N, and all she could think of was her and her best friend's movie-pizza-date later on.
"Oh shit, sorry Y/N! I promised Barry to go to this club later and completely forgot about our plans!" Y/N laughed to assure Caitlin that it was no big deal.
"It's ok Cait, you need to go out and have some fun. I mean, we were just supposed to get some takeaway and rent movies, anyways. And going to a club is way better for you," And she meant that, Y/N had noticed Caitlin's change of mood after the Ronnie-accident, and to be honest: she was worried about her friend's health.

"Hey, why don't you join us?!"
"For real? Uhm... won't that be a bit awkward?" Y/N wasn't too keen on third-wheeling tonight. And though she loved her best friend to death, her offer kind of scared Y/N's inner introvert a bit.
"No! It won't! Barry will be fine!"
"Uhm, ok then!" Caitlin told Y/N where to meet and when, and then they hung up. Before she walked out of the office, Y/N prayed it wouldn't be too awkward to tag along on her best friend's date with her colleague – which was very unlike her Cait.'Well... at least she's meeting other guys...'

Y/N was beginning to shiver for standing still for so long. 'Oh, Cait! What's taking you so long? Wait... It was at 8, right?' Just when she was about to let her anxiety take a hold of her, and start worry she was an hour too early, Y/N saw her friend come towards her with a very attractive guy next to her. 'Stop it, Y/N, Barry is Cait's!'
"Y/N! Sorry we're late," Caitlin reached out to hug her.
"It's ok," Y/N smiled back at her friend reassuringly, her eyes quickly drifting over to the handsome stranger in front of her.
"Oh, Y/N this is Barry, Barry this is my best friend Y/N," Barry held his gaze on Y/N as they shook hands.
"Nice to meet you, Y/N,"
"You too, Barry," Y/N said, ignoring the butterflies in her stomach.

Though it wasn't very characteristic of Y/N to get so comfortable around new people, Barry was different. It may have had something to do about them pretty much getting forced to talk, because Caitlin suddenly had decided to disappear, but still. It was easy to talk to Barry. He was funny, and he had such a passion for physics it made Y/N want to do a Ph.D. on the subject. He was incredible. He was perfect – just too bad he was taken.

While Y/N admired him, she didn't know Barry did exactly the same to her. He loved how her eyes sparkled when she talked, just as much as he loved her laughter, and he was sure he could listen to her for hours. The only thing that shattered his heart was when her face suddenly would turn from lively and alive, to sad and almost a bit...disappointed?

"Barry! Barry come up here! Barryyyyyyyy!" The turtledoves were interrupted in their little moment by a very drunk Caitlin.
"Looks like my dear friend wants you to sing some karaoke," Y/N smirked at Barry, getting lost in his eyes. It wasn't before the entire place started chanting his full name that she snapped out of her trance.
"Come on Barry Allen, I want to hear you sing," with a playful tone, she managed to get Barry standing and walk towards the scene.

"You're fast, you can sing, what can't you do?!" Caitlin pretty much shouted as the two rock stars came back to the table where Y/N was grinning like a little child. 'Fast? Does she mean like... oh right, yeah...'
"That was so good!!" Y/N tried to keep up a happy face.
"I know!" Caitlin jumped but quickly stopped, her face turned pale – with a tint of green, and she excused herself.
"Uh... I'll just go, uhm..."
"Yeah, you should," Barry smiled, still looking at Y/N when she walked after her friend with adoration in his eyes.

Now holding Caitlin's hair back while she threw up, was something Y/N rarely did. Last time must have been at the graduation party of college, or maybe that party they went to and met Ronnie for the first time? The point being that in spite of the disgusting setting, Y/N was happy because she knew her friend needed this: to get out and live.
"There, there, hun. Let it all out,"

Walking back – it must have been 20 minutes, Y/N was looking forwards to see Barry. Though when she saw the guy she crushed on majorly, sit by the bar with a beautiful woman, her chirpiness vanished. 'Ugh, Y/N, you guys could never have been a thing anyway! He's with Cait- wait a second!' Striding over to them, Y/N grabbed both of their attention.
"I knew you were too perfect! We're away from you for what, 10 minutes? And you're already flirting with other girls?! Ugh, you're such a jerk!" her little speech seemed to scare the stunning girl away, and a hurt expression was left on Barry's face.

"What do you mean, Y/N?" He asked, a bit confused as well.
"You know what I mean! You're with Cait! You can't just... just... What are you smiling for?! It's very hard to stay mad at you when you're smiling like that!" Y/N was getting frustrated. OK, so there may have been a bit too much alcohol in her system, but her words were still close to her heart.
"I'm smiling, Y/N, because Caitlin and I are just friends," Realising her mistake, Y/N's cheeks reddened in embarrassment.

"Barry... I want to go home..." Caitlin came stumbling over to them, Y/N still red and Barry still smiling at her.
"Yeah, I'll get you home Caitlin, you ok Y/N?"
"Uh, yeah, totally," Y/N didn't know what to say, she was so embarrassed! 'Does he know I like him now? Of course he does, captain obvious!'
"I can come walk you home after dropping her off?"
"No, I'll be fine, but thank you," and then she was alone.

"God Y/N, why do you always have to be so awkward?" Y/N scolded herself, referring to what just happened.
"Uhm, Y/N?" His voice made her look up at his beautifully perfect face. Barry came back?
"Here, maybe we can get together sometime? Alone, though," he winked at her and then walked out to their drunk friend in need. In her hands was now a white piece of paper with a ten-digit number on it. He gave her his number. They were going to hang out. They had a chance.
