WHO AM I

ANDREW JUDAH

"Evie. Please open the door."

Izzy has been knocking on my door for a good minute before I snap out of my daze. I quickly wash my dry tears and unlock the door.

She walks in, "Have you been here the whole time?"

I simply nod and sit down on my bed.

"Why?" I ask.

"You haven't heard?"

I shake my head, "Heard about what?"

"A forsaken got inside the institute.. And it hurt Alec and Hodge."

I look up from the floor, "Are they okay?"

She nods, "They're a little banged up, but they'll live."

I remain quiet and let out a relieving sigh.

She sits next to me, but I don't look at her.

"Have you been crying?" she asks.

"No." I reply, shaking my head.

She places a strand of my hair behind my ear, "Evie, what happened?"

I finally look at her and try to control myself from crying.

"It's nothing. I'm okay, promise." I smile lightly.

Even though I feel like absolute shit, I don't want Izzy to be against her brother. She doesn't need to be involved in my problems, or worry about them.

She rubs my back softly and hugs me.

"That bitch Lydia arrested Meliorn."

"What? Why?" I ask.

"Supposedly, the Clave believes that Meliorn solicited state secrets from a Shadowhunter on behalf of Valentine Morgenstern." she sighs, "By a Shadowhunter, they mean me."

I look at her sadly, "I'm sorry Izzy."

She wipes a tear from her eye, "I have to tell Alec about this." she look at me, "Come with me."

"You go on, I'll be there in a few." I respond.

She tries to study my face, trying to find any reason as to why I'm acting all weird, but she agrees and leaves me once again.

After what seemed like a couple of minutes, I finally decide to go out and face Alec. I can't stay in my room forever.

As I walk towards the training room, I see Jace walking from the entrance.
