He looked out to the sea, to the horizon, where her boat had disappeared hours ago. He was waiting, watching, hypnotised. Hoping to see it again, this time coming back for him. The lapping water and the setting sun played tricks on him and from time to time he thought he saw something. Some kind of vessel on its way back to forgive him. But each time it was nothing. His eyes saw what his heart wanted to see.
