SUDDENLY, a harsh wind pounded against the two of them, a familiar, ridiculously annoying hurricane of sparkling grains of dust barreling towards them, and a screeching white noise pouring into their skulls. Alex clutched his head, wincing slightly.

"A summoning charm. Oh, no. Aunt Sonia– she wants us back at the MIC–" he gasped, his sentence struck by intervals of bottled breaths, caused by a painful, burning sensation in his head. Maddie could barely gather the effort to nod, grimacing and thrashing like a trapped bird waiting to be set free.

And, soon, she was indeed set free as the hurricane's magic wrapped against their skin and tugged. They levitated off the ground, continuing to thrash about, surrounded by a light so excruciatingly vibrant they could see it through the lids of their eyes. A churning sensation followed, and just like that, the two stumbled into the Magical Inconveniences Centre, groaning as they thudded onto the floorboards.

"God," Maddie groaned, brushing off her clothes as she scowled at her disheveled appearance in the shining reflection on the floors. "That was the worst feeling ever." She clutched her stomach, kneeling on the floor as her head spun. Reeling, she got back on her feet, beaten by Alex.

Sonia clicked her tongue in front of them, arms crossed and her features twisted into a haughty, proud smirk. "You'll have to get used to that, Madison. If you two continue running off Poseidon knows where, I may have to do it again."

Alex rolled his eyes. "Yes, Auntie. Now, what is it that we're here for?" he asked. He stole a quick glance at Maddie, eyes softening at her worn state. I really wish Sonia hadn't done that.

Suddenly, Sonia's features lit up with a balmy smile. "Follow me, young magicians. I must say, I am most excited to see your reactions– mind, this is long overdue, and should have happened when Madison first arrived. However, circumstances showed that the others weren't quite ready, so now is the perfect time to introduce you all."

"Introduce us to who?" Maddie wondered, her fair features morphed into a confused expression. "More magicians?"

Sonia clapped her hands in excitement. "Oh, I'm so excited for you all to meet–"

Alex raised his hand. "Auntie, you're acting insane. What are you talking about? Who the heck are we meeting–"

With as much force as the woman could muster, Sonia shoved them into a doorway leading into a small, comfortable room filled with velveteen floor cushions and couches, where a cluster of teenagers chattered amongst themselves, completely unaware of what was to happen next.

Behind Alex and Maddie, the door clanged shut with a ringing bang! and the rest of the room turned to see what all the controversy was about. When their eyes landed on the pair, they looked at each other with wide-eyed, fizzing excitement. It was as if the grins on their faces couldn't have blossomed any bigger.

That is, until, one of the chosen ones registered the glamorous doll in the doorway and her Prince Charming with a deep scowl. "No way in hell she's like us. There's no way!" the girl shrieked.

Her newly found friends turned to her in shock. "Annika, what are you talking about? They look pretty normal. Why can't they be magicians?" a blonde, petite girl whispered on: "I mean, did you ever think you'd end up here?"

Annika turned to them with a deadly, raging expression. The girl looked like she'd just ruined a two-hundred dollar gel nail job. "Because, you idiots, she's the most popular girl in the entire school!" she spit out. "Magicians are special, smart, powerful! Nothing like - ugh!. This one, right here?" she growled, pointing a finger at a wide-eyed Maddie. "This girl has more games than she has sense!"
