Dr Marcy Browning had adopted the role of being a motherly figure for Beyoncé. Having never had any children herself a part of her did it simply for the feeling while another did it out of sympathy. With all the knowledge of Beyoncé's life Marcy was well aware that Beyoncé never had a mother in her life and being without her father was bound to push her over the edge so she needed someone to count on and that was her. Within the confinement of her jail Beyoncé formed a little family for herself where Marcy was her mother, Bruce was her father, Dr Jackson was her uncle, Olly was her brother and Darwin-in some sense- was her child. He was just as much a part of the family as everyone else. Even if he was small and hairy and not really a human being.
Marcy hated lying to Beyoncé but she knew for the sake of scientific investigation they'd all be lying to her for a while, even Vincent, and it had already started.
They weren't just lying to her though, they were lying to Shawn too.
Marcy strutted into Shawn's lab with a large smile on her face and a clipboard in her hands ready to tackle the tasks of the day. She grinned over at him as he slipped his lab coat on over his casual clothing and then looked over his shoulder at her with a warm smile.
"Dr Browning." He formally greeted. Shawn was in the middle of finding his way over to her when she glared around his lab and gleamed in approval. Most scientists decorated their labs well, some were messy while others were clean but this one seemed to have a perfectly ordered system while sprinkled with a sense of keen individuality and art. Shawn was an artistic person and it defiantly showed through the content of his lab.
"This is very nice Shawn." Marcy shook his hand still looking around and he let his eyes follow hers with a satisfied and rather proud smirk.
"Yes, I had just a little help from Miss Knowles." He chuckled to himself before he continued, "Of course she didn't touch a thing with her actual hands." Marcy and Shawn laughed between each other but once again Marcy was reminded of the lie she was having to tell to the girl she had nurtured for the past 4 years and the exceptional young man standing before her.
"Yes. Well considering her age we're actually planning on starting some new research." Marcy began. The two walked out of Shawn's lab and toward the elevator, "Your job will still be the same but we are entrusting you with a little more responsibility." The two paused in front of the elevator and Shawn looked down at the woman. "You see, she finds it hard to control her abilities where she feels threatened and disrupted. The new treatment may be a little stressful for her and we're not sure exactly how it could affect her. When we began the bone marrow extraction her body reacted by speeding up her healing abilities but the new trials will be a little more psychological and so we need you to be more than just her molecular biologist." As they walked into the elevator Shawn wondered what sort of experiments they had been doing on the poor girl and sighed sadly. He was extremely grateful for the opportunity but he also wondered what on earth he had gotten himself into. "We know that your job requires a lot of effort and time and attention to detail but we were hoping that we could also rely on you to teach Beyoncé things about the outside world." His face turned to confusion and Marcy then went on to explain. "Beyoncé is not allowed to leave. She's been here for a long time and that has an affect on you. She doesn't get a lot of social interaction and she doesn't know much about things an 18 year old probably should. Her family visits her every Saturday and of course they try to help her mature healthily just as we try but it's not the same as someone closer in her age." Shawn felt his stomach turn at the very idea of treating someone like a caged animal. He remembered being 18, for it wasn't that long ago, and he remembered being so excited about everything. Starting a new 'adult' life with new people and experience lurking around every corner.
