"Gary... can I ask... this question?" Serena asked with some sniffles and Gary knew it

"Yes, Serena?" He tried to ask back as softly as possible

"What is... "kidnap"?" She asked and almost made Gary fall anime style

"What? Then why was you crying all the way?" He asked

"I just thought something bad must have happened to him"

"Okay, let me find the way there, then you will understand, hopefully" He said one more time then drove faster

Back to the abandoned house, or it would be believed as Alain's hideout, he came in the room where Ash was. Ash still lying half-unconscious on the floor, when Alain poured a bucket of water to him, woke Ash up

"Alright, slave. Now will you tell me the secret of the Emotion Chip, or I have to beat you up again?" Alain asked. Ash slowly stood up, with some guards behind him. He nodded in defeat and followed Alain to his room.

As Ash stepped in the new room, it was full of electronic devices and machines. Talking in the most modest way as possible, this room looked like a dungeon, or a basement used for torturing.

"Okay, I will take the information about that chip in your head" Alain said and Ash was confused. He was confused about how Alain would do it. Alain then took a helmet, with some kind of needles beneath it. The helmet was connected to a computer by a gigantic wire. He put the helmet on Ash's head

"What do you think you're- AAAAHHHH!" Ash yelled in pain when the needles punctured his head. It didn't go too deep for blood to come out, but it would leave some red scars afterward.

"All you have to do is thinking about that invention. Thinking about the chip, thinking about how it works. This helmet will gather all the data." - Alain explained - "Oh, and if you're thinking about anything else but that, I'll send you to hell!"

Ash of course didn't want to do it, but for his life, he had to do it.

Back to Gary and Serena, they arrived in front of the abandoned house. Gary saw some guards, so he pushed Serena into a bush and hid behind a tree.

"There are just two outside, but there will be a bunch of them inside. Serena, you stay here" He ordered Serena then walked to the guards. They were about to do something to him, but he dodged it and knocked them out cold. He took the key from one of the unconscious guards, then signaled Serena to come with him, then he opened the door and walked inside. As soon as the guards saw them, they started to attack both of them

Meanwhile, Alain still gathering the data Ash gave.

"Hey Alain, can you explain why you have to do this?" Ash asked

"Because I want to make my father proud, okay? I've tried so hard to get my father's attention, but I couldn't. But when I found you, I know this is my chance" Alain said

"But why it has to be me? You can just kidnap other successful inventors" Ash asked

"You have what will change human droids forever. The Emotion Chip. And beside, this is what you have to pay for what you did a year ago"

"What do you mean? All I did was to impress your father. Well, not anymore..."

"That's the problem, Ash! You stole my job! You stole the trust from my father for me! Now I'm going to take it back by using you!" Alain shouted and clenched his fist. He tried to hold the pain he had to suffer. Suddenly, still the helmet on his head, Ash stood up and put his hand in Alain's shoulder, but Alain slapped it off

"What do you want, Ketchum?" Alain asked coldly

"Look, I understand. Although I've left Flare Corp, I still hope Lysandre can get another inventor for his company. I'll help you with this project" Ash said and went back to his seat. Alain looked at him in awe. He couldn't believe his rival a year ago agreed to help him, to "lend" him his project.

Suddenly, a big crash happened outside the room. A guard ran in Alain's room with his armor covered in blood

"Master Alain... intruders...!" He said the last word and collapsed to the ground. Alain stood up from his chair and left the room

"I'll go check out what happen-" He didn't finish his sentence when someone encountered him

"Nice to meet ya! The name's Gary!" Gary said and landed a kick on Alain's jaws, knocked him to the other side of the room. He ran to Ash and tried to put the helmet away

"Ashy-boy, did he do something bad to you? And why this is so- ARGH!" Gary then fell down. He turned around and saw Alain with a metal pole.

"Back off from him! He's my test subject!" Alain said and hit the metal pole on Gary's leg. Gary dodged it and used his other leg to kick it off

"Serena, go free Ash! I'll take care of this maniac!" Gary ordered and Serena ran in, while Gary dragged Alain outside. She tried to lift the helmet or untie it, but she couldn't

"Hang on, Ash! I'll think of something!" She said and tried to save Ash, but he held her hand to stop her

"Don't worry, Serena. I'll be fine. You don't have to" Ash said

"Yes, I have to! I can't bare losing you again!" She shouted and sobbed. Ash looked at her in pain. He knew he had to choose between his friends and Alain's dream. Then he made up his mind. He used his force to disconnect the wire plugged in the helmet. After the wire was unplugged, the helmet fell off. It took too much Ash's endurance that he collapsed to the floor. Luckily, Serena managed to catch him

However, soon Alain kicked Gary in the guts, making him almost unable to stand up. He walked to Serena and Ash

"Ash, I thought you would help me. WHY?!" He slammed his fist in the wall, then walked toward Ash

"Don't you dare putting a hand on him!" Serena shouted but he didn't care. He was about to swing a punch at Ash, then suddenly a dark red aura came from Serena. Her eyes turned to red and her body slowly turned dark (same with the book's storyline)

"I said DON'T TOUCH HIM!" She bursted out a gigantic dark red wave. This wave blew Alain of and exploded the equipments inside the room. The electricity was cut off because of this and the whole room turned dark. Soon, the aura from Serena disappeared, as she fell down and deactivated. Gary managed to stand up and witnessed the whole thing.

"That energy... how did she make it...?" He asked himself, but he quickly picked up Ash and Serena on his back. He rushed to his car, leaving Alain dumbfounded. As soon as Gary's car left, Alain received a phone call

"Yes, dad... yes... our theory is right... she has SOMETHING inside her... something that would bring destruction to the world..."

So, what's the deal with the dark aura? What did Alain mean "Destruction"? And will this story receive any light or it will get darker? And will the characters stop breaking the fourth wall?
