Chase's POV

After Landry's Hauler

As I walked away all I could think about was how I think I have feelings for my best friend and how I'm scared she won't feel the same way. I couldn't stop thinking about how I felt after she told me she loved me. She's said it probably a million times before but it never felt like this because this time it felt like she meant it. I've meant it as actually loving her since we were around 15 and she beat me at go carts for her birthday. Then she hugged me and said she was sorry because I hit the wall trying to pass her. All I wanna do is go back and kiss her but I know I can't. That's just something I'm going to have to deal with.

Landry's POV

Morning of the Daytona 500

I woke up to someone calling me. I rolled over and grabbed my phone answering it. "Hey you wanna go grab breakfast before we have to go to interviews and stuff?" I hear Chase's voice come through me phone.

"Yeah I'll be ready in 10,"

"I'll be there before that I'll just wait outside,"

"No need for that I'll run and unlock the door but hurry and lock it back when you get here,"

      "Alright see you,"

"Bye Chase," I say hanging up and grabbing my stuff I'd gather during the phone conversation and unlocking the door before walking back to the bathroom to shower.

I hoped out of the shower just as I heard the door close back and lock. "Hey Chase!" I yelled.

      "Hello Landry," He hollered back.

"I'll be out momentarily," I quickly threw my hair into a ponytail that I'd fix in the truck. I stepped out of the bathroom in t-shirt and shorts. I grabbed my wallet and my bag.

      "You wanna go to chick-fil-a?"

      "Was that a necessary question?"

"Nope but it was the gentlemanly way to be,"

"Your too sweet William Clyde,"

       "Why thank you Landry Mae."

At Chick-fil-a

"We'll have two four count chicken mini meals and sweet tea with both," Chase told the lady at the counter and she smiled.

        "Any sauces for you today?"

"Just ketchup please," I answered. Chase grabbed our drinks and I grabbed the little thing for the table. We sat down by the window and talked about the race until the man brought out our food. We ate and then we drove back to the track. The drive consisted of us singing along to the songs that came on the radio and laughing. I always have such a good time when I'm around him. Soon we were back and we parted ways him to his hauler and me to mine.

Around 10 minutes later

We both walked out at the same exact moment helmets in hand walking towards our garages to wait on driver introductions. "Landry have I mentioned you look nice in your fire suit?" Chase asks.

"I don't believe so no. Have I mentioned that you also look very nice in your fire suit." I answered smiling. We kept walking towards our garages and I thought to myself how lucky I was to have Chase as my best friend even thought wished he was more so I mustered you the courage and said "I've been meaning to ask you after the race would you like to go out to eat like you know go out?" we both stopped walking.
