Tobias's POV

She pulls back and says "I trust you too." "And I love you" she replies. "I love you too" I answer back.

Tris's POV-back home

"I don't know, but I'm really really sorry, I will do anything to help you, again I'm so so sorry for your loss."

I set down my phone. That was Kia's friend. I've known Kia since preschool. She was my BFF.

Her parents died when she was fifteen. All she had was me and Clary, Clary just called. Clary, Kia and I were the best of friends.

We hung out every night. Clary's family let Kia live with them. I was always a little jealous we couldn't have Kia with us.

That was Clary. Kia didn't come home last night and they found Kia's body in the meadow. She's dead. They said it was murder.

She died this morning. Is what Clary told me. Why do innocent people die? Who killed her? Why?

Where was she last night? All these questions with no answers. Clary just called and asked me to help with the funeral.

I obviously said yes. Kia doesn't even have her parents alive to come. Now she's not even alive. She was an only child.

Her family's line will stop there unless her mom had siblings. Most of her family died off when she was seventeen.

So many funerals. I remember her coming to school was always a different story.

Her aunt had died.

Her dog had died.

Her boyfriend broke up with her.

Her friend hated her.

She dyed her hair.

She broke the law.

She was in big trouble.

Her family was broke.

Her dad cheated on her mom.

It was always one thing after another. That's kind of another reason why I stopped hanging out with them.

I never thought about them. Never wanted to have them back in my life. I never told anyone about them.

Until now. I'm telling Tobias. I'm telling Christina, but nobody else. One time she came banging on my door.

I let her in and she said she was in big trouble. Then later a tall guy knocked on my door. Kia was still over.

It was her ex, she just broke up with him. He threatened her. He said he'd call the cops. I slammed the door on his face.

She slept over that night. That was the last sleepover we ever had. I'm just thinking back to all the problems she had in her life.

A tear falls from my face. I sit there and open my pictures. I find the last one I took of her. It was of her in a photo booth.
