Mini-Rant

Okay, so the more and more I meet more fans of Dragon Ball, I realize that not many have actually seen the original Dragon Ball or read the first 16 volumes of Dragon Ball. It really disgusts me! How can you call yourself a Dragon Ball fan when you've never even seen the original, planned story!? Z wasn't even planned until after Ball ended! Heck, Dragon Ball had a better overall story and character development that Z couldn't do. The series was supposed to end after the defeat of Piccolo Jr., but thanks to fan outcry, a gassed Toriyama had to continue the story. 

If you go back to read/watch Dragon Ball, you will start to realize the story is so much better and that Z pales in comparison. In Dragon Ball, you honestly didn't know if characters would be brought back, death mattered, and the Dragon Balls weren't abused like they were in Z. In Dragon Ball, there were a total of 4 wishes! In Z, there were 18 wishes! 

Another thing Dragon Ball does better than Z is keeping characters relevant. In Dragon Ball, the humans actually did things! *gasps* They were strong and gave Goku a run for his money! Heck, fights were much more entertaining in Ball! Ki blasts were rare and cool, and the fights were good ol' fashioned martial arts. Goku learned life lessons in the series and you watched his character develop nicely (and you all know that I think Goku is the most developed character in the series; I guarantee you, there'll be another moment in this Super arc that'll further his development immensely!) 

One more thing about the fights of Dragon Ball that's better than Z: Strategy meant everything. Yes, Z had strategic fights as well, but they weren't as strategic as Ball (thankfully, Super is re-emphasizing strategy in this arc.). Ball had techniques that were awesome and different.but were never to be seen again. Techniques like the dodon ray, afterimage (was used in the Cell Saga, but that's pretty much it), and the multi-form (again, only used in the Cell Saga and only once). Also, the fights weren't just about blowing things up and most villains had a motivation to be evil unlike all the canon villains of Z who did it because they were just evil for the sake of being evil.

This fight is better than almost any fight in Z (aside from Goku vs Cell) and it's not even the best in Ball: 

*sigh* Obviously, I'm very passionate about this subject. It's like watching a movie halfway through without knowing what the heck was going on.  I 100% guarantee you that you WILL enjoy Ball more than Z.
